LouieDog40oz (28), Germantown, Maryland, USA Apr 11, 2008 amazing transition beer from the wintere to earky spring... dark and rick yet clean and smooth... love this beer afireinside96 (817), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 10, 2008 draught. tapped a light brown color with a thin white head. smells of brown sugar and alcohol. taste is molasses, brown sugar, caramel, and a bit of smoke. finishes sweet and cloying. KnN (715), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Apr 6, 2008 Pours a dark ruby color. Minimal head, but what is there provides some good lacing.
Malty aroma. Not much there except malt. Mouth feel is very thick and chewy. Coats your mouth like cough syrup, but not in a bad way. The malt flavor is nice, but a bit sweet. Wish there was more going on. It’s almost got some flat cola properties. Not bad, but not great. EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Apr 6, 2008 Brown red tint with a white head. Spicy fruity aroma with cinnamon, bubble gum, and licorice. Sweet maple and honey flavor. Very complex - hints of bubble gum and blue berry. Yeasty aftertaste. Very good, but a bit too sweet for me. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Apr 5, 2008 I liked this one. I think its underated. Pours out a darker amber color with a nice beige head. aroma is rich and malty with a nice breadiness to it. Flavor is similar with a nice warming effect as it goes down. A fantasic beer. SoccerCoachSam (10), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Apr 2, 2008 A very clear beer with a small head, sweet clove aroma which was amazing, the flavor is slightly burnt sugar, alcohol was well hidden gpekar (221), Maryland, USA Mar 28, 2008 The beer poured a dark orangish brown. It looked nice with light passing through the glass. There was about a 1/2 inch tan head that disappeared to just a wisp rather quickly. There was not much of an aroma that I could detect. There was a creamy texture to the beer and a light sweet taste. The alcohol was hidden very nicely. I had this before several months ago and I remember it having a more sweet flavor and much more of an aroma. The flavor of this bottle was rich and deep, but not like I remembered it in the past. Have they changed the recipe? Beerman6686 (1266), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 27, 2008 Pours a clear light orange color with a small white head. Aroma is very malty with only a slight hint of hops. Flavor is much the same, very thick chewy malt with a slght alcohol tinge.
