Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

I liked this one. I think its underated. Pours out a darker amber color with a nice beige head. aroma is rich and malty with a nice breadiness to it. Flavor is similar with a nice warming effect as it goes down. A fantasic beer.

A very clear beer with a small head, sweet clove aroma which was amazing, the flavor is slightly burnt sugar, alcohol was well hidden

The beer poured a dark orangish brown. It looked nice with light passing through the glass. There was about a 1/2 inch tan head that disappeared to just a wisp rather quickly. There was not much of an aroma that I could detect. There was a creamy texture to the beer and a light sweet taste. The alcohol was hidden very nicely. I had this before several months ago and I remember it having a more sweet flavor and much more of an aroma. The flavor of this bottle was rich and deep, but not like I remembered it in the past. Have they changed the recipe?

Pours a clear light orange color with a small white head. Aroma is very malty with only a slight hint of hops. Flavor is much the same, very thick chewy malt with a slght alcohol tinge.

This beer is definitely darker than what you see in that picture it is more =dark brownish amber than bright orange. Pours with some off white head. It has a dried fruity aroma. And a dried fruit, apricot maybe with some cherry. A bunch of malts. Great alcohol coverage. Not the most complex of the DBs, but still a fine brew.

Mild fruity aroma, bland. Beautiful deep amber color and small toasted head with lacing. Wonderful flavor toffee, sweetness, slight fruitiness and mild malt flavor. Fantastic/complex flavor. Fantastic mouthfeel, wonderfully thick, just shy of chewy. Overall very enjoyable. I’ll have another... often! Would have rated a good bit higher if not for aroma.

draft. Nice head that dissipates quickly but laces the whole way. Great taste and worthy compared to even the best German dopplebocks out there except for Celebrator. This was great and would be nice year round. This is a great doppelbock and i expect nothing less from Troegs.

12oz thanks beastiefan2k - Aroma is toffee, caramel and subtle bubblegum yeast. Pours transparent ruby red with a small head and great lacing. Flavor is toasted sweet malts with a cotton candy finish. Alcohol is hidden well. Palate is sweet and syrupy. Too sweet for me, but easy drinking.
