mansquito (819), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Mar 20, 2008 This beer is definitely darker than what you see in that picture it is more =dark brownish amber than bright orange. Pours with some off white head. It has a dried fruity aroma. And a dried fruit, apricot maybe with some cherry. A bunch of malts. Great alcohol coverage. Not the most complex of the DBs, but still a fine brew. Hinez57 (129), Clinton, Mississippi, USA Mar 15, 2008 Mild fruity aroma, bland. Beautiful deep amber color and small toasted head with lacing. Wonderful flavor toffee, sweetness, slight fruitiness and mild malt flavor. Fantastic/complex flavor. Fantastic mouthfeel, wonderfully thick, just shy of chewy. Overall very enjoyable. I’ll have another... often! Would have rated a good bit higher if not for aroma. MagooinPA (99), Warminster, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 9, 2008 draft. Nice head that dissipates quickly but laces the whole way. Great taste and worthy compared to even the best German dopplebocks out there except for Celebrator. This was great and would be nice year round. This is a great doppelbock and i expect nothing less from Troegs. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Mar 5, 2008 12oz thanks beastiefan2k - Aroma is toffee, caramel and subtle bubblegum yeast. Pours transparent ruby red with a small head and great lacing. Flavor is toasted sweet malts with a cotton candy finish. Alcohol is hidden well. Palate is sweet and syrupy. Too sweet for me, but easy drinking. AdamSkillin (376), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA Mar 4, 2008 A little sweet for me. Must be some R.S. or maybe I am suffering from a yeast propagation that’s past its prime. crazyvin (1246), New York, USA Mar 1, 2008 Poured a nice clear brown-amber hue with a frothy bone color head which had mild lacing. Aroma was rich with malted toffee, and cocoa notes. Flavor was similar but had a nice bread-like presence throughout. Very rich and full. Dry finish. biggmike (480), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Feb 28, 2008 Poured an attractive amber/brown color with small off-white head that disippated pretty quickly. Aroma is sweet and of toffee, brown sugar, and chocolate. Flavor is also of toffee, chocolate and molasses. Mouthfeel is good and drinkability is high for a beer of this abv. I liked this very much. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA Feb 24, 2008 Pours dark amber with cream head. The aroma has lots of sweet smells Malt, caramel banana. Taste has lots of caramel with some hop bitterness. Easy drinking but lacking a little body for a doppelbock
