Sep 29, 2009 Poured a deep brown with small head. Inviting, bready aroma. Slightly syrupy taste, which I disliked. Otherwise, decent. Love the ABV. Still, I expected more depth out of this one, or at least a drier finish.

Sep 29, 2009 pours out ruby clear oarnge with an offwhite head that was about a finger thick and thin that was partially bubly and started to fall son after pouring. very, very slight lacing and there is a strong aroma of alcohol and wine grapes. the mouthfeel is light and lightly carbonated across the palate. kind of has a bitter sweet oniony flavour with a aftertatse of alcohol and sweet malts. very warm feeling as it goes down, perfect winter beer to keep you warm on a cold winter day.

Sep 29, 2009 Draft at Table 22 (Murrysville) Pours a clear, darkish amber, small beige head. Malt and caramel pop out for the aroma. Flavor hit both the malt and caramel, but also had a really nice touch of sweet bubblegum notes in the background with just a vague hint of hops there also. Finish is creamy and nice.

Sep 29, 2009 Pours a ruddy brown. Strong plum, dark fruit aroma with matching flavor. Touch of munich malt in the background, but subsumed by strong dark caramel malts (120/special B). Would liked to have tasted more bready malt, less caramel--a bit cloying for a dopplebock.

Sep 25, 2009 Has a bread like aroma. Clear amber appearance with almost no head. Caramel malt taste. Medium body with a thicker feel going down. Medium carbonation.

Sep 21, 2009 bottle bottled 5/29/09 poured a red amber color with a one finger white head. aroma has plumb, raisin, dark cherry, rich malt, and a somewhat odd nutty hit. mouth feel is average and the carbonation on the low side. flavor heads in the malted direction, burnt sugar, nuts, some bitterness, and a sweetness that pushed the too much level. has a hefty richness in flavors but the body does not quite keep up.

Sep 21, 2009 Pours a medium brown color, with a small amout of white head. Aroma is pretty good blend of sweet caramel and malts, similar to the taste which is definitely the high point of this beer. Medium bodied. Overall a pretty good Dopplebock.

Sep 14, 2009 A deep caramel-amber with a full, light brown head. Some citrusy hops, caramel, sourdough and yeast in the aroma. Almonds, hops, a zing of burnt yeastiness, oak and corn all crop up on my tastebuds. A very full presence. Long, bitter finish that tingles from the alcohol.
