jbender (20), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2009 Has a bread like aroma. Clear amber appearance with almost no head. Caramel malt taste. Medium body with a thicker feel going down. Medium carbonation.
blklab2007 (943), Connecticut, USA Sep 21, 2009 bottle bottled 5/29/09 poured a red amber color with a one finger white head. aroma has plumb, raisin, dark cherry, rich malt, and a somewhat odd nutty hit. mouth feel is average and the carbonation on the low side. flavor heads in the malted direction, burnt sugar, nuts, some bitterness, and a sweetness that pushed the too much level. has a hefty richness in flavors but the body does not quite keep up. WVHouseofBeer (341), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Sep 21, 2009 Pours a medium brown color, with a small amout of white head. Aroma is pretty good blend of sweet caramel and malts, similar to the taste which is definitely the high point of this beer. Medium bodied. Overall a pretty good Dopplebock. Gpnterojd (162), Orangeville, Ontario, Canada Sep 14, 2009 A deep caramel-amber with a full, light brown head. Some citrusy hops, caramel, sourdough and yeast in the aroma. Almonds, hops, a zing of burnt yeastiness, oak and corn all crop up on my tastebuds. A very full presence. Long, bitter finish that tingles from the alcohol. DeeBee21 (44), NH, New Hampshire, USA Sep 11, 2009 Hazy dark cherry red pour, very thin almost non existent head. Aroma of over ripped bananas is most present, followed by caramel notes, hints of dark cherry, and raisin a little bit of that sweet chocolate as well. Some really nice and interesting flavors. Some sweet cherry and caramel at front then turns a little tart in the middle and finish as a nutty chocolate almost hazelnutty. Very very yummy and very enjoyable! Jblauvs (533), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Sep 11, 2009 Brown pour with cherrywood highlights, thin offwhite head. Aroma is toffee, Caramel malts with some overripe banana and bready notes. Flavor is a rich toffee, Tobacco, sweet caramel. Mouthfeel is mild and creamy. Finishes a bit hot. Really tastey. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 6, 2009 On tap at dingle house. Dark brown tan head, okay lacing. Hints of roasted nut and caramel floral undertones. Only mild sweetness then a bitter dry raisin finish. Alcohol hidden okay but still drinks strong. Leighton (234), New York, New York, USA Aug 28, 2009 Had the Troegenator tonight on draft at Shorty’s in NYC. In a word: delicious. This potent beer is tasty. Pours a light gold with a medium head. Nose of toasted caramel malts. The flavor is rich, mild fruity notes with strong hop character and a bit of breadiness. Finishes nicely, with that lip-smacking quality that strong beers possess. You musn’t chug this guy. Enjoy it, which isn’t hard.
