Sampled as part of BJCP training session. Medium copper with a nice head, attractive. Aroma of sweet malts that don’t shout out, faint grassiness. Flavor is initially quite boozy, followed by malt sweetness and faint green hops on the finish. The carbonation is a touch harsh. OK, but not spectacular. I should note this isn’t exactly my favorite style either.

my beer was pretty much med/dark dark brown with a barely light brown head. this is quite a nice bock almost like a hybrid. nice tingly hop character barely sweet malt back and an adequate bock caramel inpartment. no need for anything else. good fruity nose. worth bragging about.

Pours to a deep fired red amber body with a thin creamy ring white head. The aroma is oddly malty. Very hard to describe. Sugary caramel and light amounts of dark fruits. The flavor is a bock caramel and sweet bready malts. Average palate.

Draft at the Lancaster Arts Hotel bar...pours reddish-amber in color, minimal head...sweet malty aroma...flavor was sweet of dark fruit and toffee...substancial mouthfeel...quite enjoyable, although I’d be better off drinking this one not so soon after dinner.

Bottle, thanks to Blake! Poured translucent reddish-copper with a short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up boozy caramel, toffee, and sparkly bready notes with some floral and fruity accents.. toasted overall, and quite nice. The flavor was very sweet, with toasty caramel standing out the most.. sweet again on the latter half with herbal hoppage accenting.. a bit too sweet overall, detracting from the malty goodness. At least medium-bodied on the palate with more sweetness on the back-end.. warm and sweet on the finish. Decent.

Very heavy beer that packs a punch. Tried at the troegs brewery from the tap. Will leave you very full from drinking. Somewhat close to the texture of a porter.

Bottle. Malty average aroma. Orange amber color, white head. Caramel flavor, med bodied. Some bready notes but not much depth. Not bad, easy to drink but a bit bland for a doppelbock.

12 Oz Bottle. Hay and wheat fields, robust with light fruit esters and sweet nuttiness. Reserved and somewhat plain. Pours a nice florid amber, deeper in tone, with a silky, creamed head of brazil nut flesh. Flavor is a curt, bitter presentation. With overdone dryness, parching nuts and a ragged edge of hop resins. Warming alcohols add an edge of pleasure, but there’s something just not amazing about this beer. Not distasteful, but untenable. Finishes in some old lemon clothes, spoiled with honey.
