| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 22, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep, dark amber color. Aroma is chocolate malts, soy sauce and caramel. Flavor is pure malt. In a good way, though. There is a salty, soy sauce-like flavor that I can’t get past. The alcohol is well hidden. A slight smokiness is present on the finish. Pretty good beer, but something I could only drink occasionally. Goodgrief (1149), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2007 For an affordable ($7-$8 for a sixer) doppelbock, this isn’t bad. Pouredruby red with some yellow/copper undertones. Not huge head. The taste was sweet...really sweet...maybe too sweet. It got better as it warmed (surprisingly didn’t get sweeter). I’d go to this again, only because I don’t really know many other affordable dbocks. For a treat, though, I’ll stick with Ayinger. kkearn (998), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Bottle from Mike. Dark amber with medium head. Sweet malt aroma is pretty subdued; a bit of sweet dark fruit. Taste is pretty refreshing for an 8.2% beer; alcohol is very mellow. Not too sweet in the taste; very nicely balanced. I really enjoyed this brew. Booya.
