RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA Jun 13, 2007 Pours a light amber color with a small head and tiny lacing. The scent is carmel, raisins and malt. The flavor is malt, with some sweetness. The palate was a little weak and the mouthfeel was too thin for me. Not bad overall, but I would have liked a bit more complexity in the finish. MrBeer (276), Erie, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 1, 2007 Another good beer from Troegs. Very nice rich flavor with a very nice strong aroma. grandet (477), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA May 21, 2007 12oz bottle. Dark brown pour with a small head. Raison and alcohol all around. alittle hops toward the end. Pretty good beer for the money Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 9, 2007 Bottle at Firewaters in Atlantic City. This brew pours a dark brownish-amber color with a thin off-white head that dissipates fairly fast. Spotty lacing throughout. Roasted malt aroma with hints of alcohol and raisins. Medium, smooth body with sweet malt and caramel flavors, accompanied by notes of hops here and there. The finish is on the sweet side with caramel and malt, followed by touches of hops and a bit of burning alcohol. Above average Doppelbock for my money. metsbcd (82), Connecticut, USA Apr 29, 2007 Strong beer, the alcohol is definitely present. It has a very odd and strong taste that just doesn’t do it unless youre in the mood for it. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 21, 2007 Bottle. Full bodied beer. Very malty. Alcohol taste is present, but not overpowering. Overall, good beer. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Apr 18, 2007 Updated: Dec 6, 2007Delicious beer. Heavy, full bodied, and malty. Perfectly balanced taste hides the alcohol well. According to the description, it also meets my nutritional needs when I am on beer only fasts. Great Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 12, 2007 Dark caramel color with a fine head that quickly diminishes leaving good lacing throughout the whole beer, good flavor of malts and fruits, mildly hopped but enough to offset the sweetness, low carbonation A pretty standard doppelbock, and surprisingly good.
