Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

Bottle. Aroma of bubblegum and sweet malt. Good mouthfeel and body. Flavor is similar to smell but with some vanilla, not too strong, with a nice roasted/bitter finish.

Poured a modest light tan head that quickly subsided. No lace. Odd hazy dark amber brownish color. Nose is malty, beery. Flavor is malty with a bit of carmel and honey. Pleasant sweet finish. Thanks Paul B for this bottle.

I absolutely loved this beer. 12 oz. - dark amber, not like picture, with just a bit of foam. Full, round and smooth. Tastes like caramel, chocolate and grapefruit. Not cloying to me, just delicious with no hints to its 8.2% abv. Pretty inexpensive too

bottle-thanks to vyvvy for picking this one up for me back on his fall eastern trip. ok, im going to make this rating quick. This is a sweet and almost cloying doppelbock. Im not a fan of this style, but this is a decent american version of this style-lots of sweet, carmel and fruity malts here. really, thats about it. very velvety body, which adds to the experience. my notes for this beer suck, so im just going to put this down.

12 oz bottle-Pours a slightly dark amber color w/a moderate foamy white head. Rich roasted malt aroma. Full deep roasted malt flavor w/traces of caramel, toffee, smokey peet, chicory, & cane sugar. Has a full flavor without a heavy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden, could definately be a sesson brew. Long roasted malt finish. Very enjoyable

Pours ruby with creamy tan head. Sweet and syrupy taste hides alcohol well. Carbonation is present but not overwhelming. Average mouthfeel. Not bad overall. Different from anything that I have tried.

Bottle from Slob. Thanks! Pours amber-infused red wine with a slight creamy head. Wood-smoked candy in the nose. Flavor is watered-down molasses with a light, smoked caramel finish. Average mouthfeel but the flavor is spread evenly. Not bad; not molasses-heavy like most dopplebocks.

Reddish copper body. Creamy light tan head. Malty chocolate and caramel aroma. Like a brewpub doppelbock or something from Great Dane. Really malty sweet licorice body with some chocolate and cherry. Too much of a decent flavor.
