Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

12 oz bottle-Pours a slightly dark amber color w/a moderate foamy white head. Rich roasted malt aroma. Full deep roasted malt flavor w/traces of caramel, toffee, smokey peet, chicory, & cane sugar. Has a full flavor without a heavy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden, could definately be a sesson brew. Long roasted malt finish. Very enjoyable

Pours ruby with creamy tan head. Sweet and syrupy taste hides alcohol well. Carbonation is present but not overwhelming. Average mouthfeel. Not bad overall. Different from anything that I have tried.

Bottle from Slob. Thanks! Pours amber-infused red wine with a slight creamy head. Wood-smoked candy in the nose. Flavor is watered-down molasses with a light, smoked caramel finish. Average mouthfeel but the flavor is spread evenly. Not bad; not molasses-heavy like most dopplebocks.

Reddish copper body. Creamy light tan head. Malty chocolate and caramel aroma. Like a brewpub doppelbock or something from Great Dane. Really malty sweet licorice body with some chocolate and cherry. Too much of a decent flavor.

Bottle. Clear amber in color with good sized head. The aroma was of sweet malts and milk. The tase was sweet and syrupy with too much caramel going on. Sugary and chewy. Not enough balance going on here.

12oz bottle via trade with MrBendo. Aroma: Rich maltiness with some brown sugar and fruit notes. Fruits smell of raisins and cherries. Light alcohol in the nose. Appearance: Deep copper in color and clear. Light beige head was full and creamy with good retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Toasted malt and caramel. Grapes and cherries. Alcohol is present but not hot or unpleasant. Nice clean finish. Palate: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Alcohol warming in back and roof of mouth. Overall: Nice beer, but flavors could have been a little fuller/richer. Carbonation was close to being to high. All in all, a nice beer to relax with at the end of the day.

A reddish brown pour with a nice off white head that laces the glass. An aroma of bread emerges. Very smooth going down with a warming of the throat as the temperature increases. A very good beer from a very good brewery.
