Big caramel malt, some alcohol and a bit of toastiness. some light floral to spicy hops. Full, but a little bit fizzy in the mouth, good viscosity. Really big and sweet and creamy in the mouth. Caramel is huge. Alcohol is noticable. Light floral hops. Butterscotch. Finish is very creamy, buttery, and sweet. Aftertaste is a bit sweet and cloying, but balanced by the alcohol and residual floral hops. Perhaps a better beer than I gave it credit for being, but not bad. markveerman (14), Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2007 Bottle. A amber beer with a tan head. Sweet caramel malty, rye bread aroma and taste. Medium body with a sweet dry finish. A ok Doppelbock, but not great. johnykat (65), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 8, 2007 The beer had a dark brown hazy color. The taste was carmel, malt, bread, some yeast, and kind of nut flavor at the finish. The taste of the beer is ok, and the body was medium/creamy. I also found this to be a little overly-sweet which seemed to make the beer "heavier" to me. Although the flavor was good, it was hard for me to finish because of this perceived heaviness. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 7, 2007 A nice a fruity doppelbock with a hint of caramel and malt. The scary man on the label looks like he is hypnotizing me to give this a higher rating...my complaint with this beer is the heavy carbonation. Sorry old guy with horns..you are very good but not great. Please don’t eat my children. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 4, 2007 Bottle. Fruity nose is dry, bready, and malty, light yeast and low hops, caramel with some earthiness. Pour is an amber gradient with no head. Full body, bit of a harsh mf, not quite oily, taste is fruity, dry and earthy with light bitterness and slightly high hop rates to complement the carb rates. Disappointing. Aroma of sweet malt with some dry figs and plums is very enjoyable. Taste is very sweet with good caramel malt and some dry figs and plums. I thought this was closer to a BW then a doppelbock though; I could not detect any of the banana or cloves characteristics that I usually associate with the style. Body is about average with medium carbonation and alcohol is well hidden. chriso (4750), London, Greater London, England

Attractive burnished bronze colour, with a fluffy head. Strong, sweet malt aroma. More of the same on the palate, with lots of caramel. A bit sticky for my palate, but I’m not a big fan of Doppelbocks anyway..
