Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

Dark in color, with head that goes away quick enough. Good strong flavor with a nice finish.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, dark amber golden with a creamy, beige head leaving laces. Fairly full-bodied with distinct, sweet malt and notes of caramel. A touch of hops for balance but overwhelmingly a sweet and richly malty beer. 181106

An orange-amber beer with a lazing orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel and lesser notes of alcohol. The flavor is also malty with strong caramel notes - and lots of sweetness - almost like caramel ice cream topping, but it also has faint notes of hops and flowers.

Bottle poured into Troegenator dimpled mug purchased at the brewery. Orange-red color with nedium tan head. Sweet malt aroma with maybe a hint of sour fruit almost like grapes and apples. Light to medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. Sweet malt and s & sour fruit continue in the flavor. Also I think some tobacco notes underneath. Hides ABV well.

On draught from the brewer, from the Floyd Fandango. Pours deep chestnut with a 2-finger head and nice lace. The aroma is slightly sweet and nutty, with a hint of sugar and possibly some chocolate. The flavors are slightly sweet, richly malted and backed with a decently hopped bitter property. It’s nice and full-bodied, with a dark bitter chocolate finish that lingers appropriately. Overall, it’s chewy and seemingly well-put together; however, there is an "airy" consistency throughout the pull that made it slightly less than the "bigger" dopplebock I’d have expected.

Draft ! Sampled with Stegosaurus and Beerded_one at Newtown Beerfest. Reddish brown pour with a little head. Aroma of malty and caramel. Flavor of a slight spice and caramel. Nothing to complex but not bad. A decent DOPPLE.
