Sep 17, 2006 In the Bottled version this was a rather decent example of the style if not a smaller one. The alcohol comes through in the nose as well as a bready Munich malt note. Wonderful color, the flavor was pleasent enough, not to complex though which is usual for this style. A rather light version on the palate but not bad at all!

Sep 13, 2006 The aroma is a little weak for the style, with caramel, toasted malt, cardboard, alcohol, and vanilla. The appearance is mahogany with a small head. The flavor is very nice. It has lots of caramel and nuts with light bitter finish. The palate is chewy. All I can say is wow; it’s a lot better than I expected.

Sep 10, 2006 this brew was smooth and sweet - it almost had a fruity flavor. It was very good. dark brown body and warm rich feel. this is a great winter beer.

Sep 10, 2006 What a nice pour ... shiny red with a towering head that clung to the side of the glass in a desperate attempt to stay afloat. Big bready aroma. Chewy and flavorful, like a holiday cake with a bit of brandy and brown sugar, this fills you up.

Sep 4, 2006 Bottle. Light hazelnut color with and off-white head. Nose is malty, sweet, vanilla notes, creamy, tropical fruit. Flavor is smooth, malty, simple, oaky, more vanilla notes. Nicely carbonated, smooth, a tad watery. A decent doppelbock, didn’t blow my socks off, but I enjoyed it.

Sep 4, 2006 Bottle pours amber... again with the troegs, head dissapates quickly. cant taste the high alc% on this one until the bottom. Sweet flavor with a touch of somethin that reminds me of a kind of tart fruit... maybe black cherry or grape

Aug 22, 2006 Bottle pours a clear medium redish brown with a creamy thin light tan head and very nice sheeting lacing. Nice sweet brown suray and woody malts in the aroma wig\th some over ripe apples and raisons. Flavor is bold up front woody, slightly bitter lightly roasted malts. Some of the fruityness as well, and the alcohol is a player as well. Lingering slightly chalky aftertaste and a soft, fine carbonation. Thanks to Lukin013 for the trade
