Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

What a nice pour ... shiny red with a towering head that clung to the side of the glass in a desperate attempt to stay afloat. Big bready aroma. Chewy and flavorful, like a holiday cake with a bit of brandy and brown sugar, this fills you up.

Bottle. Light hazelnut color with and off-white head. Nose is malty, sweet, vanilla notes, creamy, tropical fruit. Flavor is smooth, malty, simple, oaky, more vanilla notes. Nicely carbonated, smooth, a tad watery. A decent doppelbock, didn’t blow my socks off, but I enjoyed it.

Bottle pours amber... again with the troegs, head dissapates quickly. cant taste the high alc% on this one until the bottom. Sweet flavor with a touch of somethin that reminds me of a kind of tart fruit... maybe black cherry or grape

Bottle pours a clear medium redish brown with a creamy thin light tan head and very nice sheeting lacing. Nice sweet brown suray and woody malts in the aroma wig\th some over ripe apples and raisons. Flavor is bold up front woody, slightly bitter lightly roasted malts. Some of the fruityness as well, and the alcohol is a player as well. Lingering slightly chalky aftertaste and a soft, fine carbonation. Thanks to Lukin013 for the trade

From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with no bottled/freshness date. Poured a hazy reddish purple hued amber with a foamy beige head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing. Smells like a dopplebock, dark ripe fruity and molasses, caramel toffee malts, a subtle dry ground nuts yeastiness and brief whiffs of alcohol. Good carbonation for a dopplebock and a crisp, smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. Nice dopplebock taste, dark fruits, plums mixed with purple grapes, bready with a touch of caramel and chocolate malts, a roasted barley flavor starts to come out in the middle, the alcohol is well masked and provides a nice warming presence in the palate, and a dryish fruit and earthy breadiness in the finish, good drinkability, goes down smooth and easy. A well made dopplebock, I need to try more beers from this brewer. Acquired in a trade with fellow BR sammy, again, many thanks!!

Pours a deep amber-orange color supporting a thin beige head which quickly dissapates to a thin wisp. Aroma is sweet and very malty revealing caramel candy, nuts, honey, raisins and some faint spiciness. Mouthfeel is quite full and creamy. Definitive DB flavors are detected on first sip; sweet caramels, figs, walnuts, toasted malts and honey. The alcohol lends a warming touch and tames the sweetness a bit. An admirable DB and quite enjoyable.

Bottled(355ml). -cooper coloured, little beige head. Too sweet aroma of caramel and slight of coffee with some spiciness. Moderate sweet and dry finish. Surprisingly good beer.
