Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

Bottle sampled beer night at my house with Stegosaurus. Pours dark red-amber. Aroma of caramel and bread. Flavor is caramel, carbonated, some bitterness.

Cork & Bottle Liquors, Baton Rouge, La. - 12 oz bottle. Light copper appearance, little to no head. Thin for a doppelbock. Sweet, molasses like aroma, some brown sugar and a trace of alcohol in the nose as well. Flavor is sweet, some cherries, some cotton candy. Turns slightly cloying as it warms though. Decently thick mouthfeel. Holds the 8.5% ABV well.

This beer poured much darker than the photo indicates. This 12oz bottle poured with a thick malty head. The mouthfeel was interesting, lighter than your usual doppelbock. Felt almost like a lager in that department. Flavor was of caramelish malts, almost like the complexity of a belgian. Finish was nice and of medium length.

Mmmhmm, very good beer. Sweet flavor, almost reminded me of apple juice. Malty and delish, give this one a try. Gotta get out to Harrisburg to visit this place.

Very good brew, pours a nice copper color with a good sized white head. Nice mouth filling feeling, goes down smooth but well carbonated.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep copper with a slowly dissipating off white head. Carbonation is light. Aroma is sweet, with dark malt and light chocolate. Taste is very malty up front with a slight bitterness, which changes to toffee, butter, diacetyl, with a smooth firm finish.

Pours like coca cola. Tastes very smooth, very delicious malty brew. I enjoyed it very much. Carbonated palate, had a great texture going down. Definetely could taste the alcohol in this one. Very good beer.
