SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA Apr 1, 2006 Very good brew, pours a nice copper color with a good sized white head. Nice mouth filling feeling, goes down smooth but well carbonated. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Mar 21, 2006 12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep copper with a slowly dissipating off white head. Carbonation is light. Aroma is sweet, with dark malt and light chocolate. Taste is very malty up front with a slight bitterness, which changes to toffee, butter, diacetyl, with a smooth firm finish. kingfiogojr (78), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Mar 15, 2006 Pours like coca cola. Tastes very smooth, very delicious malty brew. I enjoyed it very much. Carbonated palate, had a great texture going down. Definetely could taste the alcohol in this one. Very good beer. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 14, 2006 Updated: Dec 15, 20062006 Bottle. Pretty good double bock. Rich, malty taste. Little head. Decent aroma with a palate that is not over powering. ivan9856 (128), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 10, 2006 I sampled a 12-ounce bottle. Bright, deep copper in color, and topped with a generous, creamy tan head, this beer sits beautifully in a tulip pint glass and leaves excellent lacing. The aroma is all malt, saccharine and with a trace of alcohol. The bold, smooth and rich body begins with a deep and sugary palate entry that quickly builds to hazelnut, caramel and toffee flavors contributed by the double malt framework. Hop balance isn’t apparent until the finish, which is appropriately drying and ever-so-slightly spicy. Not surprisingly, owing the high ABV, there’s also a bit of alcohol warming in the finish that grows more apparent as the glass approaches room temperature. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 24, 2006 On tap at Ortinos Northside. Pours a darker red amber with an average tan lacing head. Aroma was sweet and malty, caramel and a little nutty. Flavor was a nice sweet and malty smoothness. Alchol was non-detect. Gus (29), Chesapeake, Virginia, USA Feb 21, 2006 Somewhat of a strong malt aroma. Light brown to copper in color. Very clear in appearance, with moderate carbonation and a slight head. Very easy going down, no bitterness or aftertaste. A very smooth overall mouthfeel. I consider this a good tasting beer with no harsh aftertaste. Will buy again.
