Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

Thanks to whomever the rater that sent me this beer is! It has been so long that I have forgotten!

A redish chestnut colored body sits beneath a faint wispy tan head. The aroma is largely nutty with notes of toasted honey wheat bread. The flavor is just that… sweet with honey and maple syrup, almonds and big suggestions of cashew are prominent. The malts are powerful and fruity. There is a hint of the higher alcohol on the right middle of each sip. A light citrus peel bitterness hits in the finish. Another beer that is leaving my lips sticky and my belly warm.

A sublte bock with a very malty taste. Alcohol is hidden but the beer brings forth a smooth warm feeling. Copper color with an excellent aroma. Creamy and frothy poor with a smooth finish. Great with voodoo shrimp!

My favorite new beer (for me at least). Strong and hoppy, with a manly 8.2% alcohol, it has a happy flavor, though it may be better in the fall and spring than the heat of summer.

pours a dark copper brown color w/ a small off white head. Smells of a light carmel malt some yeast and a light figs. Palate is well carbonated decent mouth feel good creaminess. Tastes of carmel brown sugar some light roastiness in it and some dark fruits plums and figs I think. Overall some pretty good stuff.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear ruby red with a frothy tan head. Yeasty aroma. Yeast and malt flavors along with a definite alcohol presence. An enjoyable brew to warm your insides.

Sampled at le Mondial de la bière 2005. Reddish amber pour with a thin offwhite head. Mild aroma of malt and dark fruits. Fortunately the flavor is more powerfull and assertive, there’s rich malt with dark fruit, the finish is bitter and roasty. The body is medium with a creamy texture and the carbonation is moderate.

Verre de dégustation (provenant d’une bouteille de 12 oz) au Mondial de la Bière 2005 (Montréal, QC). Arôme: Odeur de fruits foncés, d’alcool et d’épices. Apparence: Couleur ambrée foncée. Aucun col. Aucune bulle. Aucune dentelle. Saveur: Goût de caramel et d’alcool. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Corps plein avec une texture huileuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. (Rating #169)
