daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA May 13, 2009 Pours a nice brown/amber color wtih a small head. Aroma is malty and caramel. Hints of overripe fruit and roast. Flavor is very full...tons of caramel malt, yeast, and raisins. Golden raisins. Easy and smooth. I enjoyed. It is what it is... JediMindTricks (240), Hampton, Virginia, USA May 9, 2009 Bottled. This stuff is dangerously drinkable for an 8.2% beer and has loads of caramel and chocolate in the flavor. I like it more than most doppelbocks I’ve tried...it is what it is...
l1br4r14n (274), Washington, Washington DC, USA May 3, 2009 Pours dark brown with some red. Aroma is weak, some roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt, and lots of dark fruit - prunes, raisins, cherries. Really smooth palate. Very nice. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA May 3, 2009 Dark in color with an off white head. Aroma is bready, some yeast, dark fruit, plum, fig, brown sugar and rich malts. Taste has some mellow hops to balance out the alcohol and sweetness. Some light spice and resiny fruits. Very good. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Apr 26, 2009 I’ve been pecking away at a six pack of this for quite some time now. Overall a very nice and rich bock beer. Ruby/brown in color with a frothy, khaki colored head and heavy lacing. The aroma is thick with raisins and figs coupled with woody molasses. Medium bodied and sweet along with a lightly boozy aftertaste. Bakery fresh raisin bread and earthy peat flavors as well as a hint of smoke. I taste some brown sugar and anise hidden in there too. Really nice beer, priced a little higher than it’s worth. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 22, 2009 bottle.
Pours a clear dark amber color with a thin light tan head that clears pretty quick. Aromas of big grainy sweet bread malts with some notes of toffee, booze, and light floral bitterness. Flavor starts with big toasted malts, grainy yeast and bread, dark bread, light pipe tobacco, and a floral hop bite. Very smooth and balanced, some light boozy notes. Palate follows, being very smooth and even, some light booze and sharpness on the finish. Very tasty brew. abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA Apr 14, 2009 One of my favorite Troegs brews. Very smooth caramel taste throughout, with slight notes of booze. Very easy drinking. I can’t wait until the bourbon aged version of this is released! BroSpud (584), , Massachusetts, USA Apr 14, 2009 large bottle. Wow, this is a great beer. Pours a deep reddish brown with a decent head. Nice caramel and malt flavors. Not overly sweet. Goes down very, very easy. Will be getting more of this one.
