craftycarl21 (510), South Hero, Vermont, USA Apr 14, 2009 pours a very deep and dark ruby with a CREAMY BEIGE head. Aroma has lots of dark fruit- raisin, plum, and prune, along with a good malt character- brown sugar especially, and even a bit of alcohol in there as well. Flavor has tons of raisin and plum as the predominant flavors. Palate is quite smooth, with a beautiful but subtle alcohol bite at the end. Excellent double bock. oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Apr 14, 2009 Beautiful dark garnet pour with creamy beige head. Aroma is plum, cherry, and overall dark fruit and nectar. Caramel, brown sugar and molasses come through in the malt character. Flavor is sweet and roasty. Lots of plum with the slightest alcohol coming through at the end. Palate is silky smooth and velvety. Very nice. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Apr 12, 2009 Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, molasses, prune and raisin. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, cocoa, light molasses, grainy and earthy with a smooth dry lingering malty finish. douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Apr 10, 2009 22oz bottle thanks to machfive55, man this beer brings me back. It was one of the first craft beers I ever had, and I liked it then as much as I like it now. Pours a deep riuby color with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet caramel malts, some light fruit and nuts. A nice flavor of rich caramel malts, toasted flavors, rich sweet fruit, light bready and yeast. Very full flavored and nice. ben4321 (953), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 7, 2009 Overall Impression:
A really nice, highly enjoyable Doppelbock. Lacking information for this rating, as I haven’t had one in a while, and would like to re-rate next time I drink one. ljay6880 (132), , Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2009 Wow!! I had this via a bottle from a local restaurant, then put a half barrel on tap in my kegorator. The aroma is a very malty, bready smell that makes you crave the beer as you would a home cooked meal. It pours a darker shade and has a thick off white head. Very thick and satisying beer if you enjoy a malty, sweeter beer. bhensonb (4182), Woodland, California, USA Apr 6, 2009 Bottle from Captain Cougar. Thanks Tom! Pours a beautiful garnet with a temporary light tan head. The aroma is simply caramel. Rather full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is caramel with a light touch of hop, maybe. Finishes bready caramel. It’s not dry but it’s not sticky sweet either. A pretty good beer. Brewbie (217), New York, USA Apr 3, 2009 12oz bottle. amber/brown with a thin head. light aroma of caramel and sweetness. really sweet and smooth. heavy caramel and malt with a bready finish.
