Ungstrup (14758), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 19, 2006 An orange-amber beer with a lazing orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel and lesser notes of alcohol. The flavor is also malty with strong caramel notes - and lots of sweetness - almost like caramel ice cream topping, but it also has faint notes of hops and flowers. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 21, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, dark amber golden with a creamy, beige head leaving laces. Fairly full-bodied with distinct, sweet malt and notes of caramel. A touch of hops for balance but overwhelmingly a sweet and richly malty beer. 181106 omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 18, 2004 Bottled, thanks marbles!
Copper colour. Bready malt aroma. Sweet, rich and full bodied, all emphasize is on the malt. The hop rate seems fairly low, and there is some butterscotch. A really good doppelbock! kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 04/09/2003

argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Apr 12, 2003 Clear garnet with minimal tan head. Aroma is caramel, cola, some spiciness. Taste is cola/caramel and earthy bitter, with some spiciness. Decent body, and the alcohol is well masked. Improves considerably as it warms. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 11, 2007 Bottle. A amber beer with a tan head. Sweet caramel malty, rye bread aroma and taste. Medium body with a sweet dry finish. A ok Doppelbock, but not great. Rastacouere (5552), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 4, 2004 Orange-amber clear body, thin off-white head. Aroma of cedar wood smokiness, wet soil, sand, peat malt. No alcohol is noticeable to me, but were there some, it’d feel pretty whiskey-ish. Palate is lightly tart, very earthy with more smoke and peat malt stuff going on, but not much flavor developments. Sand undertones, mild bitterness. A rather quaffable example without much complexity and a airy medium body. hopdog (5535), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2004 Poured a mahagony color with a off white/brownish head. Malty aromas (caramel). Tastes like it smells. Sweet beginning. Alcohol well hidden. I’m not sure if I am a Doppelbock fan or not, but this beer didn’t do it for me.
