Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

Tasting @ Capone’s: Poured a reddish amber color with a nice thick head. The aroma was that of sweetness. The flavor was sweet and as the taste wears off, a nice finish with some bitter hops. This is another great beer from Troegs, our second favorite of the evening.

Pours a dark brown, almost amber color with a tan head. Aroma is of malts, bread, raisins, and other dark fruits. Taste was very complex, with malts, fruits, and chocolate balanced out by sugars and yeast. Lingering taste of fruit. Very delicious and easily drinkable without being to complex.

Medium head that lasted a long time. Roasted malts prevalent with slight sweet caramel and meaty - alcohol is well-masked - with a hint of hops. Good stuff.

large bottle. Wow, this is a great beer. Pours a deep reddish brown with a decent head. Nice caramel and malt flavors. Not overly sweet. Goes down very, very easy. Will be getting more of this one.

Medium amber color. Lots of caramel and quite heavy on the malt. A little coffee taste was lingering in there somewhere. Pretty good. Gives me a nice impression of Troegs.

Pours a nice copper with a thick white head that doesn't last. Aroma is slighty sweet and malty. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Raisins, dark fruit, and caramel. Hide's the alcohol fairly well. It's ok, but it's nothing like a German doppelbock.

Oddy light in color for a doppelbock. Aroma of raisin, chocolate and cinnamon. Palate is smooth and a bit watery. The body is very thin especially for the style.

Bomber from Rivers Bend.
Pours brown in color with ruby highlights around the edges. Decent inch of frothy head atop the beer. Smell is slight toffee and a bit of a lager smell as well. Mouthfeel is pillowy soft and very nice. Taste is lacking a little complexity and strength. Needs more toffee/caramel and a supporting flavor. They nailed the mouthfeel though.
