2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Nice cloudy light brown appearance.
Very light aroma. Smooth going down.
Mild woody taste. Winey sweet/sour aftertaste,
which I'm not fond of. Not my style.

This would be a lot better is the alcohol content were reduced to around 5-5.5%. AVB

Caramel color with good initial head presence that last sin the lacing process. Smell is a deep malt with molasses notes. Taste is deep and rich in malt and molasses with a hint of hops. Mouthfeel is creamy, smooth rich and deep. Drinkability is excellent.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Troegs "Mad Elf" tulip.
Ap: Dark red, almost into Cherry Coke territory, with a slight foamy head. Perfectly acceptable for this style.
Ar: Cherry is the main scent I’m detecting. I spent a few seconds here and the sweetness is very much a kind to beet sugar.
T: Rich, yet a bit on the bland side. The sugar is very in your face, but not totally in a bad way. This would be a good accompaniment to cheesecake.
P: Coats the mouth with tons of sugar. Definitely full-bodied, which are what Double Bocks are supposed to be. The carbonation is pleasant.
O: I honestly couldn’t imagine having more than one.
Overall: I am a big fan of Troegs, however, this is one brew in their line-up that I think could use some work. Admittedly, this style isn’t my favorite, but this is still sort of a "by the numbers" Doppelbock.

Pours a nice amber color with a quickly fading off-white head. Dark fruits dominate the nose, with some toasty notes and a little caramelly flavor. The toasty notes become more prominent in the taste, but still play a supporting role to the dark fruits; low to medium bitterness complements a nice, chewy mouthfeel. However, the alcohol in this is a bit too present. Overall, a solid doppelbock, tasty but nothing extraordinary.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy dark cherry red pour, very thin almost non existent head. Aroma of over ripped bananas is most present, followed by caramel notes, hints of dark cherry, and raisin a little bit of that sweet chocolate as well. Some really nice and interesting flavors. Some sweet cherry and caramel at front then turns a little tart in the middle and finish as a nutty chocolate almost hazelnutty. Very very yummy and very enjoyable!
