For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

Pours with a small white head, but it lasts and laces. Aroma is weak with malty yeasty scent. Taste is pretty hoppy, I expected more malt due to the aroma. This one hides the high alcohol content very well. It’s fairly carbonated. Aftertaste is smooth and lasting. Nice drink with Troegs hoppy flavors.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2014 Wow! An in-your-face tsunami of flavor. Rich malts balanced with hops and mild sweetness. A mighty style that has too much alcohol and sweetness for me, but a quality beer nonetheless.

A nice doppelbock, very sweet and chewy malts. Was a deep amber color, with a white head. Very very tasty and strong, hard to belive its 8.2%

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2008 12 oz. bottle pours a clear amber brown with an off white frothy head that dissipates fairly quickly. Light malty aroma with hints of caramel and bread. Flavor is a sugary sweet malt with a clean finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. Overall, a well crafted brew.

Pours a dark amber color with some red. The head is large and off white, very nice appearence. Aroma is very light but has some wheat and some fruits. Flavor is a little bitter at first but quickly goes to some bitterness. You can definitly taste wheat and some fruits. The finish is dry that makes you want to drink more. Very nice.

draft. Nice head that dissipates quickly but laces the whole way. Great taste and worthy compared to even the best German dopplebocks out there except for Celebrator. This was great and would be nice year round. This is a great doppelbock and i expect nothing less from Troegs.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber brown with medium head, only slight lacing. Flavor is caramel malts with a bit of smoke. It has a little bit of scotch flavor actually. This beer is fairly sweet but there is a nice bitterness in the end which almost balances it out.
