3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The beer is dark plum to amber in color with an inch of beige head. Audible fizzing. The aroma brings lager yeast, dark fruit, plums, toffee, caramels. Sweetness that was present in the aroma carries into the flavor. Lingering sweet toffee chews, candy. Hints of brown bread. Malty throughout. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. With Ayinger Celebrator sitting around on shelves at most decent beer stores, it's hard to choose another doppelbock. Still, this is worth a visit.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Drank from a pint glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Pours a beautiful brown clear color with a little bit carbonation. Has a breasy, almost rye aroma. Tastes a bit like bourbon, dry, an okay brew.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Potent double bock with lovely aroma of hard roasted malt, dark bread and a little coffee. The taste varies over dark chocolate, very dark rye bread (pumpernickel), a little hard coffee and roasted malt with a very small tone of smoked malt. The sweetness is relatively high and syrupy, and it’s actually a little sorry for the acts most like a dobbelbock which has been added a portion syrup, rather than a double bock beer with natural malt sweetness. The taste also contains some dried fruits and a bit nuts. Unfortunately, its fruit taste a tart shade of some fruit acid, and it bears it from being completely comparable with the best German double bocks. It has otherwise many fine bars and a soft carbonation that makes it rich in malt flavor. Hop bitterness is also balanced fine, but its a little too high fruit acid (which can resemble cherry), which I do not think belongs in a good double bock. The finish is dry and as such it is a tasty and vinous beer, however, is just a little too sweet and slightly tart.

Six pack thanks to Phil’s ponk ass! Good brew. Semi-sweet malty beverage that was more appealing than I expected. This is a really nice doublebock. It was a nice balance of carbonation and alcohol. The high abv is cloued behing the nice milk chocolate, berry yumminess that is c reated in this bottle. The apprarance was deep reddish to brown. It never left the bottle so citing the exact appearance is not wise here. Well done Toregs, well done.

Words can’t describe how much I love this beer. It was an extra in a beer trade I made recently and I like it more than the beers I actually traded for. I can’t even compare it to other Bocks since this is my first besides Celebrator. Only wish it was sold in Seattle!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Gorgeous deep ruby amber. Dried dark fruit aroma: cherries, prunes. Flavor is sweet biscuit and loads of cherry, plum, some raisin, and a hint of dark chocolate. Thick chewy mouth feel. Slightly drying finish but still very sweet. Low carbonation and warming from the alcohol.

Slightly hazy dark amber. Small, frothy light beige head. Aroma has malt syrup, honey and dried fruit. Similar flavour, alcohol, sweetness and bitterness nicely balanced. Gets very fruity, almost cherry-like. Finish is quite alcoholic.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Deep amber pour with a quickly receding head. Dark fruit and bread on the aroma and taste. Palate has a little heft, and it carries a touch of a dry finish.
