COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

I absolutely loved this beer. 12 oz. - dark amber, not like picture, with just a bit of foam. Full, round and smooth. Tastes like caramel, chocolate and grapefruit. Not cloying to me, just delicious with no hints to its 8.2% abv. Pretty inexpensive too

Thanks to the good folks at Roadhouse in Brookline for this one. Beautiful brew. Nice caramel brown color and thick off-white head (almost tan). Aroma is sweet malt with a slight alcohol burn as well (though not overpowering). Flavor is balanced malt and just a nice slight touch of hops. Loved it. Wish it were more readily available up here.

Delicious beer. Poured a bright brownish-orange color with a half-inch white head that dissipated fairly quickly. Great hops flavor without being too over the top.

Deep amber color with tan foamy head. Nice malty aroma with slight traces of dried fruit. Malty yeasty bread flavour with traces of caramel and spice. Lingering ba;anced aftertaste

Definitely my new favorite. Opens with chocolate notes but with a smooth finish unlike any dark beer I’ve ever had. Bravo.

Bready and sweet aroma. Non clinging aftertaste. Slight heat like a generic cough syrup. I know these are weird descrips, but it’s funny what one person’s taste and smell are to another. Anyhow, my first Troegs Bros. and I will pursue them further....not in a romantic way...you know what I mean. Very good D Bock!

It tastes just as it smells. Pure maltiness in both aroma and flavor. As with the hops, though, there is only a slight bitterness and no aroma. It smells and tastes like the malts used for brewing beer.

Aroma is bread and strong malts. The flavor is mildly sweet malts, a hint of dark fruit and a mildly alcoholic finish.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2009 Pours a mahogany brown with red highlights and thin egg-shell head. Aroma of plum, raisin, and smoke. Flavor has a hint of alcohol, cherries, very sweet. Very nice indeed. Awesome label.
