Commercial Description:
For periods of fasting without solid foods, Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread", a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. In the spirited tradition of naming a double bock in the suffix "ator," we give you Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months.

A sublte bock with a very malty taste. Alcohol is hidden but the beer brings forth a smooth warm feeling. Copper color with an excellent aroma. Creamy and frothy poor with a smooth finish. Great with voodoo shrimp!

Bottle, Brickskeller. Medium dark brown color. Rich and sweet nose containing currants, cherries, nutmeg, with a slight alcohol nose along with a dominat maple scent. Toasted honey flavors, moderately thick texture, sweet, herbal flavors. Some dogfood smells though, and chewy at times, biscuity, sweet maple and brown sugar. A tasty beer but not the prototypical doppelbock.

Smells like alcohol and malt. Tastes very malty, just enough hops for a nice finish. Above average for a doublebock. For the price (8 bucks for a sixer), it is a great deal.

Rich clear caramel color, thin off white head. Crunchy milk caramel aroma, some earthy hops in the backend. Silky in sweetness and body. Pleasantly oxidized, rich and smooth.

Bottle, thanks to MySpace friend, Kevin. Pours a deep, dark clear amber with beige head, not much retention. Has small aroma of strong malt, caramel, brown sugar. Flavor is nice and rich, medium roast malts, sweet, and alcohol spice that compliments, slight bitter in the end. Mouth feel is a nice full body with medium carbonation. I enjoyed this!

Thank you abcfan for this one. Pours a dark shade of copper. Aroma is all malt. Flavor is very one sided, and you can literally taste the caramel malt in this. Kindof cloying, but if you like sweet beers this is right up your alley. Not bad, just a really one sided malt bomb.

bottle. crack this open and smell fruity hops! little to no head but an awesome red color and lots of carbonation. first sip is very sweet and finishes bitter with a burnt taste. this stuff reminds me of TILBURG’s Ducth Brown ale but not as good.
