COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Black Bise is back, except that the animal was adapted to better IMPRINT in the range of the brewery. High fermentation black, with a mixture of special malts calibrated to give it body, roundness and needed a winter beer presence, without falling into the bland. It as 7.2%, so caution. This beer is brewed from September to March.

11.2 oz bottle. It pours a dark brownish black with an off-white head. I always enjoy stouts that look this way with the black and white combo. I like the smell of this one, it does indeed have some spices which add to the goodness, but it is primarily a sweet and cocoa-y brew with a nice bit of caramel and roasted malts. There is also a hint of hops. The flavor is fruitier with a nice bit of roasted malt. To be honest the hops in this are a bit overt, but then again they work well. IT is reminiscent of their hoppy porter. I would say if you like something like nightstalker, this is a bit weaker, but very tasty and similair. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-15-2011 03:10:18

Bottled. Dark amber coloured. LIght brown head. Bread, spice, ripe fruits in the aroma. Flavour has some roast, some liqourice, spice and some fruits. Has a herbal touch. Medium bodied. Ends on a quite spiced note.

330ml Bottle: Aroma of dark ripe fruit, plum, malt, raisin, and brown sugar. Poured dark brown/mahogany in color with a tiny to small, tan/beige, loose, head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malt, yeast, light roasting, light lactose, slight vanilla, and some cream. Medium body. Average, lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, lactose, yeast, finish is lightly dry.

Bottle. Dark brown, virtually no head. Moderate malty and lightly sweetish aroma, licorice and saltiness, light hoppyness and roasted malt. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, roasted malt and licorice. Finish is average, malty and dryish, roasted malt and salty licorice. OK although I am not big fan of licorice.

Into the glass pours an almost pitch-black beer, which only allows very little light. The head is flat and short lived. The beer smells chocolaty, slightly smoky, malty. The beginning part is stout-like, pleasant roasty, with well pronounced chocolate notes, paired with a mild smoky taste that seems very pleasant. The aftertaste is chocolaty, fruity, light berry notes come through. The course is pleasant chocolatey, with delicate nuances of smoke, not too intrusive, but still with punch! I like it definitely!

Flat...hardly any carbonation. Great aroma with good chocolate and cherries. The malt is really good, but it is so flat that it really represents a problem. The flavor does’t really come out. This might be a shipping problem, and this might be an amazing beer in Switzerland, but it wasn’t that great for me.

330ml bottle (Bierkompass.de)
7 Lovely aroma - really brown toasty malts, sweetish, but not sugary, some cocoa, and a hint of bacon. Please may this be good, it starts so promising.
4+ Lovely dark red, so dark you’d initially think it’s black. Hard to coax a head out of it, but you do get a small beige one if you try.
7+ Malty retronasals, which carry through to the central taste, accompanied by just a tiny hint of bitter hops, noble, but a little leafy.
5 Lovely and smooth palate, gentle carbonation crispens it nicely. Heavently finish - no hint off any alcohol vapours, just rich roast malt
15 What a wonderful stout. So drinkable but so full. Humming with all the right notes in perfect harmony. No spices, herbs, or vegetables to be seen (and lookey here - it even says "imperial stout" on the label).
