COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Black Bise is back, except that the animal was adapted to better IMPRINT in the range of the brewery. High fermentation black, with a mixture of special malts calibrated to give it body, roundness and needed a winter beer presence, without falling into the bland. It as 7.2%, so caution. This beer is brewed from September to March.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, appel syrup and a hint of chocolate in the aroma. Malty sweetish flavor with pure chocolate, roast and hazelnuts. Roastbitter aftertaste. Pleasant, well balanced brew.

Into the glass pours an almost pitch-black beer, which only allows very little light. The head is flat and short lived. The beer smells chocolaty, slightly smoky, malty. The beginning part is stout-like, pleasant roasty, with well pronounced chocolate notes, paired with a mild smoky taste that seems very pleasant. The aftertaste is chocolaty, fruity, light berry notes come through. The course is pleasant chocolatey, with delicate nuances of smoke, not too intrusive, but still with punch! I like it definitely!

Flat...hardly any carbonation. Great aroma with good chocolate and cherries. The malt is really good, but it is so flat that it really represents a problem. The flavor does’t really come out. This might be a shipping problem, and this might be an amazing beer in Switzerland, but it wasn’t that great for me.

330ml bottle (Bierkompass.de)
7 Lovely aroma - really brown toasty malts, sweetish, but not sugary, some cocoa, and a hint of bacon. Please may this be good, it starts so promising.
4+ Lovely dark red, so dark you’d initially think it’s black. Hard to coax a head out of it, but you do get a small beige one if you try.
7+ Malty retronasals, which carry through to the central taste, accompanied by just a tiny hint of bitter hops, noble, but a little leafy.
5 Lovely and smooth palate, gentle carbonation crispens it nicely. Heavently finish - no hint off any alcohol vapours, just rich roast malt
15 What a wonderful stout. So drinkable but so full. Humming with all the right notes in perfect harmony. No spices, herbs, or vegetables to be seen (and lookey here - it even says "imperial stout" on the label).

Bottle courtesy bu11zeye. Clear reddish color with some bubbly notes. Clay aroma, caramel with heavy malts. Flavor is sharp grains, tart and harshness. Some sweet notes fill it out.

Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - DEC 10, 2010
Bottle. Pours a bruin body with an off white head, with okay lacing left behind the pour. Very malty body, malt syrup, sweet, bourbon esk, old oatmeal mush. Hop character is totally oxidized, leaving a leaf y and metallic finish. Past prime i suppose.

Bottle. Pours a dark burgundy that can be deceivingly dark in the glass with it’s darkness inducing and thus contrasting tan, sudsy head. Smells fairly sweet and bourbony with cookie-like spices intertwined throughout. It seems to smell a lot thicker than something of 7.2% abv. Flavors are balanced with nutty notes, lots of caramel, and other malty characteristics, some vanilla maybe and some cookie spices. It is medium to full bodied but seemingly thicker when you think about the alcohol level and it still remains pretty luscious considering that and I actually think the combination of spices here, whatever they may be, is done quite well and surprisingly harmonious. Not too shabby. I could do with more prickly and pronounced carbonation though as the rather unlively mouth makes it taste a bit flabby and muddled after a while...but still not too shabby.
