COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Black Bise is back, except that the animal was adapted to better IMPRINT in the range of the brewery. High fermentation black, with a mixture of special malts calibrated to give it body, roundness and needed a winter beer presence, without falling into the bland. It as 7.2%, so caution. This beer is brewed from September to March.

Draught Deep-brown beer with orangeish reflections and a small, dense, beige, Guinness-like head, with classic lace. Very roasted, molasses-like nose, burnt toffee, and a mossy aroma. Quite sweet, sweetish chocolate, with cigarette ash retronasal. Dries up in the palate, leaving some grainy impression with roasted notes. Drier chocolate in the aftertaste, very slick, medium bodied or better. Nice, if rather sweet heavy stout. Drinks better than the marks might suggest.

Bottle at omhper, thanks. Coarse light brown head. Dark brown-red color. Dry roasted malty aroma with strange beef broth. Black malty taste with chocolate taste.

Bottled. Poured medium-brown with a short-lived, yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasted chocolate and black malts with plenty of cardamom, vanilla, and some herbs around.. fresh, greener hoppy accents.. welcoming. The flavor found well-toasted chocolate, vanilla, and molasses notes at the core.. cardamom, cinnamon, and lightly sour malty notes around.. finished with warm spices over molasses and a touch of maple. Medium-bodied with a spotty flow through the palate.. more tart/sour toward the back-end.. OK feel and flow.. decent beer.

Pours a clear dark brown with a small brown head that dissipates quickly and leaves little lace. Aromas of a sour cocoa with some spice. Taste is sour dark chocolate with some raisin and hints of vanilla and cinnamon on the finish. This body of this beer is very light on the palate which is very surprising for a >7% beer.

(33cl bottle) Day2 of the 2012 Advent Calendar. Pours a medium beige head atop a black body. Nose of sherry, red licorice and cocoa powder. Very sharp, sour front with a grainy yeast mid-palate. Not sweet and totally different aroma from flavour. Hides the 7.2% ABV exceptionally well. Good. --- reviewed on RateBeer.com

11.2oz bottle 10/29/13 (Binny’s Naperville)-58° in English Pint-Pours black with ruby tints. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, malt, and spices. Taste of the same with a bit of a sweetness. This medium bodied brew was a bit different but not bad.

Bottle, 7.2%. Roasted aroma, a little smoked, hint of ashtray. Very dark brown colour, seems clear. Big rocky light brown head. The flavour is sweetish and roasted, has a little barley bitterness, some ashtray. A bit rough around the edges, but not too bad.

Gusher! Pours a very dark brown letting just a little light through, a large tan head that settles but lasts and leaves some bits of lace on the glass. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and some dark dried fruity esters. Flavour is roasted malts, bit sour/tart(lactic acid like), mild chocolate, ashtray and a bit watery.

Bottle, at Baran. An almost black one, topped by a dense, dark beige head leaving curtains. Dried fruits, roasted malts, nuts and a touch of chocolate in the aroma. It’s full-bodied and semi-dry on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Dried fruits and some chocolate in the flavor, roasted, and a bit sweet, with a medium length finish. A decent one, but a bit boring I think. 140906

Bottle: Pours a lighter than expected brown and despite my best efforts produced no more than a tiny ring of brown head. The nose is light and airy, slightly sweet. Vanilla and cocoa with faint roast. A little bit of spice in the taste, but I can’t pinpoint anything. Modest roast and light floral bitters.
