COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Blah. A boring bland beer that probably didn’t get a fair chance being that it probably sat on a shelf for a very long time in the store I got it in. Aroma was light and weak. Grass, mud and a hint of roasted malt. A weird mix. Pour was a murky medium brown with a off white ring for a head. Taste was very odd. Not terrible, but close. Terpentine, Listerine and a slight hoppiness. There’s some roasted caramel in there but the off flavors are just too overpowering. Little carbonation. Drain pour.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 330ml bottle served in a chalice. A: Pours a dark brown bit cloudy color forming a two fingers aired and bubbled beige head. Good retention and not many lacings left S: Nice smell of roasted malts and citrus-flowery hops. Some notes of dark chocolate and yeasts T: Follows the nose. Roasted malts and fresh citrus hops. Interesting combination. In the end, it’s more to an American IPA but the roasted malts bitterness somehow combines with the hops bitterness improving a bit the IBUs. Again, some notes of chocolate and yeasts M: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Nice bitter aftertaste O: Very good American style Swiss beer. Trois Dames quality. 330ml bottle at Bistro L’Autre Oeil. Dark brown with a foamy tan head. Flavors are bread, chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, grass and pine resin with fruity and nutty notes. Heavily oxidized, not sure how old this is. Medium body, moderate to high carbonation, slick texture.

Pours a solid bodacious brown with dark cherry inflections. Mild impressionistic nose, dry woody malts and maybe some berries. Taste delivers: a confident piney hop bitterness accompanied with Alt-quality malt wood, roast and caramel. Lingering earthy, leafy bitterness, carried and offset by a round body. True to the substyle in asfar as expressivity here are converted into "brown" shades of caramel, earth and wood and another beautiful Trois Dame exercise in cross-pollenating styles to achieve heightened subtlety.

330ml brown bottle. Medium brown pour, pretty clear. Very full and creamy off white cap that is long lasting. Glass coating lacing. Nose has caramel and nut and some light chocolate, light hops. Taste has earthy malts, dark chocolate and some roasted notes. Coffee beans and roast malt at the end with some bitterness. Dry. Interesting beer, a bit light for what I expect from a black ipa.
