3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle from IPB.
Appearance : Amber with small head. Not much lacing.
Aroma : Big passion fruits with piny notes. Very fruity with light malt. Quite floral. Light caramel.
Palate : Soft carbonation.
Taste : Big fruits with pine and citrusy notes. Very citrusy and fruity finish. Moderate bitterness for a DIPA. Finish light malt with light caramel. Notes of lime.
Overall : interesting but the fruity notes feel a bit artificial. I’m really not saying there is artificial flavoring in there but something make it feel this way. Carbonation could have been a bit fizzier. Not bad overall but not on par with the good examples of the style.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a one finger off-white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Hazy amber color with some yeast left in bottle. Light grapefruit hop nose. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor has malty sweetness and mellow grapefruit hops. Decent DIPA. Higher ABV is hidden. $6.00 for a 330ml bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Star Grocery. Pours cloudy copper with a decent beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor that starts sweet and fruity and finishes with a boldly bitter piney hop taste. Lots of carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Brewforia. Pours darkish hazy orange gold with a foamy beige head. Aroma seems floral and fruity. Med plus body. It starts with sweet caramel but then a whole lot of floral and fruity hop overwhelms that. Not harshly bitter and there’s a brown sugar component, but it’s well or over matched. Good stuff, possibly with a little heat. Hard to be sure if it’s hop or heat.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cl. bottle. Pours a medium, off white head, good duration, over a hazy, particle laden amber (SRM 8) body....nose is honey, toffee/caramel, pineapple, light spice....taste is sweet malts, with honey, pineapple, light pine, licorice, finishing with a light lingering bitterness.....mouth feel thick, sticky, with light alcohol burn, carbonation adds a creamy foam. This is a very sweet I/DIPA, with the malt back bone dominating the hops. It almost wanders into a Barleywine in style. The commercial description mentions Simcoe as one of the hops. I had difficulty detecting it. Was this an older bottle and past its prime? BJCP 7/2/14/4/7

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
An incredibly sweet and syrupy beer. Not hoppy at all. Dark orange pour. Thick and hazy. Light tan head. Lots of caramel malt and sugar. Some citrus notes. A bit of bitter bite on the end, but really very little hops. Heavy, sweet and sticky. Way too sweet.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep hazy amber into a snifter. Off-white head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing to mottle surface. Soft, yet nicely carbonated with sweet grass and resin aromas. Bitter resin upfront turning to dark caramel and back to grapefruit in the lasting finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
11.2 oz. Small haze on the copper body and a lasting creamy film of foam above. Aroma is earthy orange, caramel liqueur, and light oak. Flavor is plum, orange caramel, honeycomb, cereal grain, peach, cherry liqueur, and a nice bittering of grapefruit, resin and wood. Light-medium body is smooth, well-balanced, slightly oily and has some alcohol warmth. This one takes a while for the flavors to develop, even at room temperature; very complex.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 6, 2012 My Bottom Line :
Oranges bloom from this suave Double IPA’s honeyed malts, leading to a balanced finish of resinous bitterness and caramelized cereal sweetness.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A ring of foam circles the gorgeous amber mist.
-The hop signature also provides earthy and leafy notes.
-The round body is silky and comforting.
-Polite carbonation ensures you feel this beer’s gravity.
-This is a nice digestif of a brew that is not unlike many of Dieu du Ciel’s creations in its plump nature.
Bottles. Merci Laurent!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 330 ml
Aroma mild for double IPA nose. Soapy hops with dry alcohol, barley wine like malty bottom.
Appearance amber with light haze. Plus sized white frothy top. Good looking with decent life span. Noted lace.
Flavor and Palate : Medium plus bodied. Sweet crystal malt with light alcohol on sides. Fresh green hops on top of your palate. Solid brew but with its considerable malty side I would categorize this as American Barley Wine.
