from Erzbierschof - slightly hazy bronze beer with a fast vanishing foam; aroma of cider, hay and apples; notes of candied fruits; full-bodied, gently sticky; a hint of late acidity on top of a moderate sweetness; pretty dry aftertaste of apples and vinous notes

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 330ml bottle served in a Duvel tulip glass. A: Pours a quite cloudy pale yellow color forming a minimal bubbled white head. Minimum retention and some thin and lingering lacings in the glass S: Great perfume of grapes. Strong notes of white wine, sweet pale malts, vanilla, wood and bready yeasts T: Sweet, malty and very fruity upfront. Notes of white grapes, vanilla, oak. Smooth taste: A good balance between sweetness and bitterness with nice touch of sour. The bitterness prevails in the very end M: Medium body. A bit molasses. Low carbonation and a good fruity bitter-sweetness aftertaste O: Great drinkability. Quite smooth for its 8%. A winner. Recommended [ BA Review @ 8/11/2013 ]

Draft at Khyber Pass. Hazy straw pour with a fizzy/foamy white head. Pleasant citrus floral aroma. Huge vinous flavors. Green grapes. Gold plums. Oak tannins. Bit sweet, sharply tart. Clementine marmalade. Hay stacks. Orange pips and pith. Flavors are well blended and blurred.

[Bottle] Straw colored pour with a large and lasting white foam head. Grape must, yeast and cider-like aromas. Flavor notes include lemon, white peppercorn, grape, dough, grass and sour fruit rinds. Lively carbonation. More sour character is evident as the beer warms. Overall, quite sessionable.

Alewife, Queens tap: Pours really cloudy whitish yellow with a small white head. Aroma is grape, wheat, acid, and some fruitiness. Taste had a nice sourness to it, but not particularly strong. Nice wit features throughout. A bit spicy and fruity. Very refreshing, especially considering the high alcohol content.

First hit of this just-tapped at Local 44 in Philly. Hazy gold pour, nice foamy white head. Perfect looking beer. Funky tart barnyard aroma with notes of yeast and lemon. Great lemony flavor; sweet, tart, very well balanced. Very solid beer.

Another bottle bought in blind haste luckily I hadn’t rated prior since it looks like I had #2 rouge version. This pours a white wine coloration with thin head. Nose is grapes and must not surprisingly. Tastes of white grapes, must, pears, vino, floral, and slight tonic water. Pretty thin palate and drying finish. Not all that sour at all good use a lunch of tartness and stronger flavor.
