Bottle. Pours hazy straw gold with quickly settling white head, no lace. Aroma is funky, musty, fruity. Flavor is mildly tart, vinous, with a grape, sweet and mild grain, malt finish. Nice that the grape isn’t over the top, has a pleasant, mild tartness to balance the sugars. Soft carbonation, medium body, and juicy texture.

Fruity nose, but not sweet. Has a dry finish. I could imagine drinking this on a hot summer day. Very refreshing!

Bottle. Very hazy, dull gold with a small white head. Yeasty nose and palate, maybe I should have been more careful in the pour so as not to have released the lees, but I’m getting a prominence of doughy yeast. There is some straw like malts and a bit of an earthy quality, but absolutely no sweet grapes and no barrel. Disappointing.

Bottle at The Trappist, Oakland. Label was presented red compared to the photo pictured here, but I do not believe this was the barrel-aged version of 2009. Breaded, yeasty nose with hints of chardonnay. Flavor comes out very fizzy with a slight citrus note blended with hints of more chardonnay and a tiny hint of barrel funk, maybe brett? It’s not loud at what it’s doing, but it’s pleasant.
