COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Née de la rencontre fortuite d’une stout forte et d’une fermentation d’abricots du Valais qui jamais n’atteignit l’alambic du distillateur auquel elle était destinée, notre Oud Bruin (flamand pour "vieille brune") est une interprétation assez peu orthodoxe de ses cousines belges.
Elle en garde cependant le délicat équilibre aigre-doux, entre une solide ossature maltée assise sur des malts, aux notes caramélisées, chocolatées, rôties et fruitées, dans laquelle vient se fondre le vin d’abricot avec son acidité lactique, ses notes de cuir et d’étable liées aux levures sauvages, et une discrète note d’abricot.
La finale est légèrement amère et le tout se déroule tout en harmonie sur le palais.
Une bière unique, d’une grande buvabilité mais joliment complexe, entre douceur, fruité et acidité. Elle se mariera avec l’agneau, le canard, les moules, les crustacés ou des fromages à pâte molle ou mi-dure.
Série limitée de 1.200 bouteilles de 75cl, 7.2% d’alcool/volume, 35 unités internationales d’amertume (IBU).

Pours a murky brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is sour cherry, leather and wood. Flavor is lightly sweet, then sour, caramel, tart cherry, acidic, dry finish.

Bottle: The aroma consists of sour cherries, caramel, and a light lemon. It pours a hazy oranish-brown with a small off-white ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with sour cherries and a touch of grain. The finish has some lemon tartness and a touch of oak. Medium bodied with mild carbonation.

Bouteille 75cl. Rousse foncée, mousse blanche épaisse. Arôme dégage une fine note d’acidité typique de ce style flamand. Malt est léger et présente une fine couche de malt grillé qui reste un peu en retrait. Cela laisse ample place au vin d’abricot pour se distinguer. On peu clairement y voir la finesse de cette approche des styles entre la stout et cette oud bruin qui sont en parfaite symbiose. En bouche, on a tout ce que l’on attend de ce style avec là encore la touche du maître brasseur qui a su mélanger ce goût abricoté avec un malt à la fois grillé mais aussi légèrement chocolaté. Cela laisse un fini qui est finement acidulé avec des notes de levure tout en conservant un aspect sympa de vin et de fruits; abricots.

Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and s smallish tan head. The aroma has acidity that is lactic and citric as well as having red fruits, vinegar, oak and vanilla. A mix of sourness and creaminess here. Medium crisp body with underscored carbonation and an overall refreshing feeling to it. The flavor starts with the aroma traits along with iron and minerals. The acidity is quite high with citric and lactic acid taste & a sharp lemon sting. The finish has some more minerals, black cherry and is quite buggy and dry. Nice sour ale.

A: This one pours a pretty dark brown color with lots of reddish notes and a finger of tan head. S: Smells really quite nice. A touch of vinegar, but solid oak aromas and a bit of grass and wet hay. A light caramel sweetness and a lilttle bit of fruit notes. Some nice oxidation to it. T: The flavor is not quite as good. There is a bit of a sweet, grape Jolly Rancher type flavor to it. Slightly tart with some vinegar and a decent amount of oak. Not quite as much of the grass and hay notes that were present on the nose. M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation. D: I liked the nose quite a bit, but the flavor was definitely a let down. Good, but not worth the rather hefty price tag.

750mL at DC Elite. Pours a hazy mahogany with a small, tan head. Aroma of cinnamon, big spice, spicy red wine vinegar, Flemish red complexities like spicy oak, chocolate ganache. Taste is dry, bland, chalky, tart but not sour, metals, lemon, cardboard. Softly carbonated on the palate. Too much lemon tart and not enough Flemish red oomph.

75cl bottle. Large beige head that mostly dissipates atop murky dark brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, sour Brett/cherry, light caramel, dusky. Taste is medium sweet, cherry, fairly sour, lacto, some duskiness, vinegar. Medium body, some acidity.
