Red tinged black pour. Dusty tart cherry on the nose. Currants and red wine. Super tart - a puckerer of a Flanders red - I can feel this one in my jaw bones. Really tasty!

Draught @ de klomp. Reddish brown color and a small off white head. Sour spicy nose with notes of horse & barnyard, vanilla, pepper, red apples, Vinegar, lemon and some earth and leather. Dry sour taste with red berries, lemon, horse pee, cereal, hay, some licorice root and oak.

Bottle from my Euro Santa, much appreciated, because this is a very good beer. Murky dark brown color. Aprocot, confit cherry and toffee in the aroma. Caramelly, moderately sour citric flavor with apricots. Nice oud bruin, fairly complex, some rest sweetness.

Draft on tap at Bavarian Lodge (Lisle, IL). Saw this pop up on BeerMenus, ventured in for this as I’ve always wanted to try it. Pours a lovely deep dark copper ruby hue, darker with a hazed middle, some deep darker color harder to see through as it tapers out, catches some quite nice light and glows an intense red on the bottom and edges tapering out from the middle. Decent head stays as a frothy layer, loose lacing as it rings ok. A touch tannish and off hued. Aromas show a bit more gentle, restrained sourness. Some dark fruit and tartness, mellow lactic appeal come in with carmelized and nutty malts, a bit toasty, vinous elements. Raisin, dark fruit, gentle tart black cherry. Initial is medium bodied, perhaps a touch more full, a bit less "done" than anticipated. Gentle biscuity and bready malts meet some toast, nutty elements and dark fruit. Vinous, a bit tart as we press on. Some firmer oak as we hit the middle, more toast and a decent kick of tartness. Black berry, raisins, and gentle toffee. A bit thicker on the palate. The backend shows some more oak, a bit tannic with gentle lactic acidity kicking a bit. Some firmer malt elements still remain fresh, keeping the base intact. Gentle, a bit thick and brooding for my tastes. The oak and dark fruit elements are quite nice, but the sour elements don’t quite reach the level I’d like. Ok.

0.75l bottle @ Baran, shared with and courtesy of my lovely girlfriend. Birthday beer! A really deep dark ruby red colored one with a small light lacing brown head. Smells really nice with lots of dark ripe fruits, some vinegar, junipers, forest, herbs, lots of wood and red wine. Quite complex and not bad at all. Really lemony vinegar sour in the taste. Woody, red wine and a ton of lemon mixed with heavy sour apricots. It’s oily on the mouthfeel and it has a below average carbonation level. Quite interesting flavor vise. Lots and lots of sour white currants in the finish. A really tasty one. 21.07.2013

I like oud bruins, but this one pretty damn gritty and underground .. . Pours a burnt baked bean .. . Soupy mouth .. . Copper, grain, and tart iodine .. . Decent, but i like them cleaner .. . . Me? Just soaking in the tub. It’d be more relaxing if the Home Depot manager would stop asking me to put my clothes back on.

Draft at the Sybarite Pig. Snifter. Pours a muddy brown with thick white head. Aroma was like a porter but with vinegar. Taste was similar. I really didn’t like this one from Trois Dame. Medium body, NO carbonation. I didn’t like the aftertaste of bitter vinegar.

Pours a very dark brown with a good head and some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is oaky, with some very light vinegar, plenty of leathery funkiness, and some husky notes.
The flavor is very sour, it’s got some berry, and some spiciness. It’s oaky and vinous at times with a nice bright lemony character. It’s drier than most beers of it’s category, but that’s a nice thing, I think.
Thought this one worked pretty well.

Thin cream-colored head. Mahogany-brown hazy, but the bottom third of the bottle has a huge amount of yeast which will cloud later pours. Aroma is strawberry, sour old wood. Mild earthy, dry (not hot) spice. Body is medium, halfway between syrupy and watery, delayed carbonation onset. Flavor is tart cherry leading in to big dry-wood sourness and light caramel malt sweetness that blends perfectly with the other flavors. Delicious
