4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Bov (8204) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - MAY 6, 2007
courtesy of Jérôme Rebetez - cloudy dark golden-orange colour with a little white/beige foam; nice lacing; superb hoppy aroma; grapefruit, cream and pineapple, resinous; medium to full-bodied; tart and robustly bitter; the finish is fairly dry showing a very long bitterness along with notes of tangerines and orange peels - what a great beer !
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 SubCapt (23) - SWITZERLAND - MAY 14, 2008
Wow. Pale bronze, delicate carbonation, fine crown of foam. Intensely hoppy and fruity nose, with lychee, grapefruit and pinbeapple, more of th esame on the dry and fruity palate, long bitter, crisp, aromatic and complex finish. This may be a hop missile, but it has more balance and complexity than most, making it a great session beer. The first really spot-on attempt at an US-style pale ale in this country, too !
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Miguel (1181) - Saint-Ours, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 3, 2007
Robe ambrée voilée surmontée d’une mousse blanche qui s’estompe. Arômes de houblon herbacé. Saveurs de houblon herbacé et de malt caramélisé.

Bottled, thanks Bov! Hazy bronze colour, creamy head. Freshly hoppy nose with orange hay and sweat. The hop aroma is carried over into the flavour, meetinr little resistance from the fragile very light body. Finishes with long hop bitter finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Allen (2674) - SWITZERLAND - DEC 14, 2008
UPDATED: APR 30, 2009 Bottled 33cl. My version had a lower ABV of 4.8. Okay, here we go... Apperance: It pours a hazy fully golden beer with a small head. Not much lacework. Aroma: The nose is of pine needles, grapefruit, overripe oranges, tobacco, pineapple and stale bread. Flavor and palate: A lot of overripe oranges which are accompanied by pine needles, grapefruit, pineapple and licorice. Very nicely balanced. Leafy with stale bread, tobacco and paté sneaking in. This american pale ale is less bitter than I expected. Medium bodied. Some sweetness with an apparent yeast character. Reminiscent licorice, crystal sugar, pineapple and grapefruit in the fnish. Overall impression: A decent brew. But I could definately do without the stale bread and overripe orange- components. Surprisingly sweet with a medium bitterness. I definately enjoyed the Trois Dames ESB a lot more which I sampled a few days ago and straight after the american pale ale. The ESB is excellent. Still a very interesting brew. Thanks a lot bov for this beer! Second sampling: Very american. Quite earthy. Excellent hop profile - but there is indeed an strange stale note showing up- staying with the initial rating. The bitterness is rather subdued.

Bottle, thanks a million Allen. Clementine aroma, a bit yeast. Cloudy orange, plentifull fine carbonation, huge lacing offwhite head. Lighbodied, fruity notes dominate (lemon/clementine). Sparkly mouthfeel, quick finish, slightly metallic aftertaste. Nice!

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Pepper-laden oranges and leafy hop resins take form after what seems to be another splendid dry-hopping séance from this fearless Swiss brewery. They’ve created another highly drinkable alpha-festivity!
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam protects the hazy pale orange.
-Mouthfeel is well fed, yet the malts don’t seem to contribute much flavor-wise.
-Cabonation is once again soft and cushiony.
-Oranges continue well into the finish, as do firm resins.
-The yeast does appear Belgian; in any case, it works perfectly with this flavor profile.
-A more recent batch (late 2009) proved to be a lot less aromatic, slightly thinner, and just all around forgettable. From 3.8 to 3.0...
Bottles.

A golden ale with a very thin white head. A wonderful classy c-hops aroma with light citrus. In mouth, a light bready malt, with light restrained hops, very nicely done. Tasted at Mondiale 2007.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mds (2118) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 30, 2007
Bottle. Pours a clear golden-orange body with a small bubbly white head. The aroma has pear skins, orange sweetness, and sugar notes. Soapy orange flavour. Finishes cleanly with minimal bitterness.
Sampled at Mondial on June 2, 2007.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Boutip (3979) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 3, 2009
Bottle: Poured a hazy deep yellow color ale with a super large foamy head with perfect retention and great lacing reminiscent of Belgian ale. Aroma of medium sweet Belgian malt and lightly hoppy bitter notes more geared toward European hops. Taste is also a strange mix between some dry Saaz-style hops with some lightly sweet pale Belgian malt and a light bready and somewhat spicy yeast finish. Body si quite full with great carbonation. Interesting European spin on the APA style.
