rand (1299) - SWITZERLAND - SEP 21, 2012

A reddish amber saison with a thin white head. in aroma, a nice mix of toffee and raspberry pulp, a bit of horseblanket, fruit acidity. In mouth, a nice raspberry juice, with nice acidity, corky notes, light Brett notes, very nice. Bieropholie import, tasted May 12 2012.

A slightly pink-tinted brew. A little bit of soft raspberry character and a touch of spice. Softly yeasty fruitiness. A nice kiss of acidic fruit and a yeasty spiciness. Softly tart with a nice fresh spiciness. Fairly dry but still fruity.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head and decent lacing. Sweet raspberries and cranberry sauce. A bit sweet, a bit grainy with a slight warming. A dusty hop tone with a dry finish.

Poured like liquid rose petals into my glass cupped in tender hands. A soft white collar reveals all her nose has to offer. Whole raspberries freshly picked sparkle in the light of my eye even as sunflowers sway in a gentle spring breeze. Their essence washes over me in a gentle calm while straw, grass, and golden hay glimmer under the warm summer sun. A kiss of citrus damp with dew and I am in farmhouse bliss. If I close my eyes, I am in Belgium surrounded by lands of harvest and bottles of ale. The Saison Framboise exudes the earth from which she was inspired, and I can’t wait to see how she tastes. The first sip is a supple wave of whole raspberries and raspberry puree with a tart puckering finish. Lemon skin lifts her fruity sweetness while dry grass, baled hay, and sunflower petals perfume my breath. Minutes long after each quaff, raspberries and cream dance and play. Amazing. A few more quaffs and she is a smooth remix of the above.

Drinking the Saison Framboise from Trois Dames was exactly like drinking of the earth from which she was inspired. A miracle in personifying the essence of terroir, I could easily drink this beer on a regular basis.

Pours a cloudy redish color with a thin white head. Aroma of raspberries and yeast. Flavor of raspberries and yeast. The body is light with soft carbonation. It’s good, but not really special or memorable.

75cl bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Switzerland. pours copper, thin white head. aromas, raspberries nicely present in the nose, some light floral and hops. Mild grainy malts. Flavors, malty, puree like fruit presence, nice tart raspberry mouthfeel, raspberries add a nice prickly tart finish. There is a mild lingering wheat presence. I enjoyed the fruit aspect of the beer, comes out as real fruits rather than usual sweeteners. Nice beer, but I think a tad too much of wheat and yeast for the style.
