3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a clear dark amber. Intense, minerally aroma. Solid body, caramel, overripe fruits, marzipan and a slightly oxidized edge - as in a good Sherry. The honey does shine through underneath all of this wealth. Warming alcohol in the finish. Lovely. 111011

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2011 Bottle from Wina Świata, Świnoujście

Beautiful amber color. The aroma is light, with some alcohol and plastic. The sweetness is moderate, a semi-sweet in French terms; there is some flavor of dark honey, with a mild apple flavor too, and light astringency (that reminds me that of ciders), leading to a final that is drier than usual; it’s also a bit vinous and there are more fruits. It’s quite original in the Polish mead panorama, but not exciting.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Courtesy Cheeseman. Pours still, sporting a clear and dark copper-amber color. Moderate sheeting shows on the glass, but fails to form legging streams. The aroma is quite odd, showing notes of old honey, muscat grapes, licorice, and anise, the latter two ingredients seemingly clashing with the former two. Flavors are just as odd, showing a hint of tart apple and earthy, fermented figs amidst the light honey sweetness. There’s a bit of a misplaced herbal element in there as well. The palate is pretty weak for a mead, medium bodied at best and a little papery on the finish, far from mouth coating. Eh, this one isn’t very good. Interesting, but not something I’d go back to.

RBWG’10 cheers to Cheeseman for more mead goodness.
light amber color.
Aroma, although lighter in abv this one’s abv seem to be more forward.
Flavors, honey sweetness and mild of what I perceived as apple tartness in the mouthfeel. Overall this one remains smooth, sweet coating honey.
