750 ml bottle courtesy of dazz3. Pours very hazy pale golden with a rather big frothy and fluffy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is spicy with crackers, plums, dry soil, cedar, dark grapes, woody tannins, white pepper, allspice, lemon zest and orange zest. Taste is dry, tiny tart and very spicy with crackers, dry soil, cedar, cloves, allspice, lemon zest, dark grapes, white pepper, hay and grapefruit rinds. Mouthfeel is dry, tiny tart, watery and light bodied. Finish is dry and tart with crackers, dry soil, cloves, lemon zest, hay and allspice. Quite nice and refreshing but a tad bit too spicy dry.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours clear yellow with a decent white head and a yeasty fruity aroma. There is a flat dry pale malt flavor with a slightly bitter finish. Not as fruity or as carbonated as most saisons, but more floral and bitter.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 11, 2008
My Bottom Line:
This highly spicy Saison benefits from citrusy undertones to assuage the gingerbread dessert perfume and increase drinkability.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the hazy blond.
-The Troll brewer is an herborist. That explains the concept behind a lot of their beers!
-The body is very light (this is 3.9% abv after all), which is kind of a strange choice for those dessert spice leanings.
-The flavors are not as expressive as the aroma had let on.
-This beer is also brewed with a strange moss which is responsible for part of its unique personality.
-Base cereal flavors are quite polite.
-A subtle hop bitterness clinches each sip.
On tap at Bir&Fud, Rome.
