Shangrila was the first creation from Birrificio Troll. It is of dark amber color and has a persistent head and with its 8.5 alc./vol. it warms the palate and the heart. Shangrila is brewed using malt, English hops and a mixture of spices from the Himalayas: tandori (Blend of coriander, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, ginger, cardamom, saffron), curry, pepper, anise. Shangrila is a complex full bodied beer with exotic scents and an intense flavor. Shangrila is a perfect companion for meats of every type, especially ones grilled over charcoal. It also pairs very well with fine cheeses.

Tasted during Nepenthia. Amber brown color. Thin white head. No lace sticks. Hazy body, with bits of particles inside. Caramel, some fig, pear. Nuts. Some spice, something like cinnamon. Medium-plus body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Light slick. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. Pretty pleasant overall.

Tap. This was one of my first introductions to the barleywine style (or so I was told when I ordered it) and I have been hooked ever since. Uber strong malt flavour which is still well balanced by the bittering hops. Delicious!

Aroma is funky. Taste is malty and spicy. This is a delicious beer. Worth a try and probably a second or 3rd. ---AJ's Approval

5.5 euro for 500ml at Hop in Milano. I should know the background to this beer (my store sells it) but alas I am tasting blind. Heavy set at 8.5% and seems to be in the Tripel territory or high abv Beglian IPA. I’m getting some spicy hop action late. Thickens with a treacle note and cooked fruit. Good for what it is.
