COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shangrila was the first creation from Birrificio Troll. It is of dark amber color and has a persistent head and with its 8.5 alc./vol. it warms the palate and the heart. Shangrila is brewed using malt, English hops and a mixture of spices from the Himalayas: tandori (Blend of coriander, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, ginger, cardamom, saffron), curry, pepper, anise. Shangrila is a complex full bodied beer with exotic scents and an intense flavor. Shangrila is a perfect companion for meats of every type, especially ones grilled over charcoal. It also pairs very well with fine cheeses.

On tap at Open Baladin. The beer pours hazy amber with a creamy off white head. The aroma is caramel, spices, sweet fruit and yeast. The flavour is light spicy and light hoppy with notes of caramel and ripe fruit. Quite nice.

Clear medium amber color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, sharp, sharp spicy and yesty, saffron, anis seed notes, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, spices, fennel seeds. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20100602]

Looks good, aroma is thick, lots of sugar. A lot of molasses-type flavors. The spices don’t seem to work in this - don’t get the anise. Mostly seems stringy. And this is way overpriced.

Bottle. Perhaps one of the most unique beers I’ve ever tried. Dark brown with barley a whisper of a head, the beer exudes a distinctly Asian aroma. LIke Indian food in a glass, the bold choice of spices in this make it a true one-of-a-kind adventure. (#3850, 2/20/2010)

(Sample Date: 8/16/2009 Source:Other) Spicy dark fruit nose. Almost a Belgian yeast character. Light cloudy amber brown. Flavor of oak with dark fruits and a sherry like taste. Dry vinous finish. Very tasty.
