Commercial Description:
Brewed at De Proefbrouwerij for Musketiers.

'Troubadour' is a deep blond beer with 6,5 % alc. and a second fermentation on the bottle. This second fermentation is responsible for the higher alcohol percentage and the further evolution of the beer in the bottle. When poured out in a suitable glass, 'Troubadour' has a thick white tenacious head. The first contact with the tongue results in a lovely sparkling feeling. The flavour is characterised by a mild bitterness and is somewhat spicy, followed by a pleasant sweet aftertaste and dry finish. The aroma is mainly characterised by the spicy hop flavours, accompanied by a light fruity flavour. Troubadour Blond is an authentic beer, consisting of the basic elements : pilsner malt, water, hop and yeast.

This wandering minstrel reached Australia from Belgium via Denmark five years ago and languished in a corner of my beer rack as forlorn and forgotten as whatever hopeless CD my sister sent for Xmas that year. An unfair comparison, it turns out, for this Belgian ale has weathered the ravages of time better than LCD Soundsystem, Bloc Party, the Kaiser Chiefs or whoever else flickered briefly in 2005 and faded. After four years, Troubadour Blond had evolved/devolved into a swirling maelstrom of proteins adrift in a caramel-coloured universe. A sticky-sweet aroma spoke of gingered pears, toffee apples and fresh-mown hay. An oily customer. With any real hop character long since dissipated, the malt profile dominated - sticky toffee pudding with a late seasoning of clove to spice up the swallow. Very easy on the senses - more like the Carpenters than Bloc Party and nowhere near as fucking irritating as Kaiser Chiefs (Devils! Get off my Ipod and never again soil my earplugs with your naggingly catchy ear-candy.) Overall, this is a decent ale, undeservedly ignored. ( 33cl bottle courtesy of Papsoe - thanks buddy. Bottle shared with curly and scottyp. Pours a murky dull golden with decent offwhite head. Nose is fantastic nutty almond with vanilla yogurt. Flavors mimic the aroma, with just a subtle light lemon note. Creamy body. Great beer.

Pours a cloudy golden with thick off white head, some some sediment floating around. Aroma of honey malts, yeast, citrus, spice. Similar taste, nice dry finish. Lovely beer

11 and 1/5 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy dark orange with a medium sized poofy ivory head. Aroma has a lot of caramel malt and honey, light oranges. Flavor repeats with the caramel malts, now with orange marmalade, medium-sweet finish. Lighter palate for the style. A very simple, straightforward beer, but high quality all around and very balanced. I could drink this for hours. Overall, very good.

Pours a hazy blonde, with a lasting white creamy head. Fruity alcoholic aroma of banana. Bittersweet taste and short finish.

8th July 2008. Malty blond beer. Some zest fruit in the dry start. Dry almost peppery finish. Just too dry!

This cloudy dark blonde beer poured with a large beige head and some floaties. There is a butterscotch aroma and a sweet and sour caramel flavor, as well as a spicy, almost peppery finish. It’s an interesting brew

Bottle, best by 25/06/10. Poured golden with a tall pillow white head that settled to a ring with time and left light lacing. Aromas of caramel, dark fruits, and butterscotch. The flavor had dark fruits, brown sugar, and spice. Medium body, sweet, and smooth. Nice!

Bottle from Bierkoning. Dark body with plenty of head. Nice malty nose. Sweet and refreshing. Spicyness in the finish.
