machfive55 (64), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 10, 2008 The beer poured a light amber with a little yeast from the bottle making it slightly cloudy. I had no head on the beer but a very lively carbonation. The beer left lacing on the glass as I drank.
There was a complex sweet malty aroma with a strong caramel presence and hints of apple. There was no hop aroma.
The beer is sweet and fruity. With each sip you get sweetness at the front and bitterness at the end. As the beer warms the fruitiness mellows out to a caramelly presence that becomes overwhelming at the finish. I found the finish to be quite cloying. There is some hop bitterness at the beginning that goes away as the beer warms. No hop flavor.
This started out as a good beer for me, but was just too sweet at the end.
