3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Taste of Belgium in Cincy. Had it on nitro, which I suppose is especially rare in America (according to the bartender) the pour is black with a humongous light light tan nitro head. The lacing is beautiful as it falls slowly to a film. The aroma is heavy on roasted malt. There is a bit of chocolate behind it, and then it moves into a light booziness. The alcohol is a nice balance to the bitterness. The flavor is a more complex, but the malt base is there. There is a touch more chocolate and a hint of some dark fruits before a light alcohol comes in. The mouth feel is light but creamy with a good lingering roasted malt bitterness

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
75cl bottle shared in a snifter. Pours dark brown with a white head which lasts throughout. Aroma is very toasty and moderately powerful. Taste is dusted dark chocolate and coffee balanced well with some sweetness but the bitterness is there in the finish. Mouthfeel is perfect for the style and lends itself to being easy drinking particularly for an imperial stout.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from De Hopduvel, Gent, Belgium! Imperial Stout but not like the Imperial Stout from Emelisse, Struise or Mikkeller. Not very malty and pours with a high volume of brown head but the head is not again like the others, dense. Aroma reminds me Belgian Strong Ale :-) Not the aroma I’m expecting from an Imperial Stout
