3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at The Flying Saucer in Little Rock. Pours a black body with a finger-width, creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a solid lacing. Aroma is fairly malty sweet with rich chocolates, caramel, and some bread. A moderate roast, a good amount of dark fruit, and some licorice. Flavor is similar. Semi-sweet chocolate and caramel malts with a bit of a breadiness, roasts, licorice, dark fruits, a bit of a Belgian yeast phenol, and some burnt notes. Finishes dry with lots of bittersweet chocolate, a medium roast, and a light earthy hop leaving a medium bitterness that is balanced by a nice sweetness from the malts, dark fruits, and licorice. Lengthy aftertaste following a full, slightly oily body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid impy. Lots of bittersweet chocolate with a nice roast, dark fruit, licorice, and yeast note. Good beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a thin short lived, off white, head with extensive lacing over a clear black (SRM 35) body.....nose is heavy coffee, light cocoa, molasses....taste is bitter coffee, slight chocolate, hints of dried fruits arriving late....mouth feel medium, carbonation high. While pleasant to drink, this is a rather simple example of a very big complex style. BJCP 7/3/12/4/7

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep ruby-brown, with ridiculous amounts of dense tan foam that leaves behind some nice lacing. Aroma is of roasty malts, bittersweet chocolate, maybe cherries and figs. Flavor is sweet and malty, some coffee, a noticeable alcohol burn, and turning bitter and roasty at the end.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
750 ml bottle courtesy of Stefan (non-RB). Pours very dark brown with a huge brownish gray head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots and lots of trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with dried sweet dark fruits, roasted malts, toast, dusty barnyard, glue, alcohol and liquorice root. Taste is sweet, slightly sour and metallic with roasted malts, coffee, lemon juice, barnyard, silage, pine, phenols and esters. Mouthfeel is tiny sticky sweet, tiny oily bitter and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with oily pine, silage, orange zest and coffee. Possibly infected.
