Bottle Moeder. Pours a dark blackish color with a brown head. Aroma is of roasted malt, lots of dark fruit, sweet sugary notes, chocolate, coffee and some liqourice. The flavor again is very dark fruity with some Beglian yeasty flavors, along with brown sugar, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and the liqourice. The body is medium with a dry mouthfeel. Overall a pretty solid Belgian Stout.

Bottle. Pours black with a big beige head. The aroma is sweet roasted malt with chocolate and bread notes. The flavor is toasted caramel, roasted malt and chocolate. Hoppy notes in the finish. Kind of mixture of a barley wine and a stout.

ThirstyBird (1696) - Düsseldorf, GERMANY - APR 16, 2014
Pours deep, ruby red/brown with a big tan head. The smell is fruit, dark malt, roast. The taste is roasted malt, mild coffee, fruit, quite sweet. On the light side of medium, a bit watery especially for a 9% stout with fine carbonation. Needs a bit of bitterness to counter the sweetness plus a bit more body.

Bottled. Pours dark brown in color with a tan head. Lots of roasted notes in aroma, part coffee and part dark chocolate. Notes of sweeter chocolate and as well. Feels quite nice. Mild and soft mouthfeel. There’s that nice dark roasted malty feeling which feels like some bitter cocoa and some sweetish licorice in taste. Later on there appears notes of salty licorice as well. Easy to drink nonetheless.

Douberd (2585) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - APR 1, 2014
Bottle 750 ml at home, into a snifter. ABV 9% Very dark mahogany brown colour on the body, with a huge beige head, thick, with very good retention. Never collapses entirely, a thin line of foam remains on the surface. Light lacing left behind. Aroma of oats, liquorice, light milky chocolate after a swirl of the glass. Tastes pretty good, again oats and liquorice, just a hint of the alcohol. Thick and creamy body, soft carbonation. Overall another very good beer from this brewery, bearing the Troubadour name.

A great imperial stout. Pours a muddy brown color with a super thick tan head, like a root beer float. Smells incredible, vanilla, cinnamon, and s'mores. Taste is creamy with cinnamon and vanilla, with some hops in the finish. Had in the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bomber bottle. Black color and big, light brown thick head. Smells like molasses bread. Tastes of chocolate, heavy malt, and deep fruity goodness bitter finish. A great stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
