3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had this on tap at Valhalla in NYC. According to the distributor guy, it’s only available on tap, but RateBeer seems to have a picture of a bottle. Oh well. Good imperial stout, tastes like an imperial stout ought to, with the requisite chocolate and coffee notes, plus a little smoke and the Belgian yeast flavor. Good beer.

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier; cap number 0605120222
Very dark color, almost black; it has a frothy large head, persistent. Mild aroma of roasted malts, and mild hops. Good flavor of dark caramel, mild roasted malt, dark chocolate, with good hops and correct bitterness. In the final, there is some spicy yeast.
It’s a good dark Belgian beer with a little extra roastiness and hops.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 25, 2013 Holy crap this is good. About one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted in my life. It’s aroma refers to coffee and dark chocolate. But most of all I was extremely surprised by it’s brandy-like aftertaste which is nothing less than a true treat. Someone put a lot of love into this beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
