far too mellow a flavor profile for me to enjoy considering the label of an imperial stout. on the other hand, i would recommend troubadour’s obscura, aptly labled a ’mild stout’.

Dark brown with a red tint and a beige, lasting, creamy, head. Smells of roasted malt, raisin, chocolate and caramel. Full thin frothy body with soft carbonaton. Tastes of roasted malt, alcohol, raisin, with a slightly boozy finish. Decent impy stout but needs more flavour overall.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a tanned head. Aroma is very roasty, full of molasses. Flavor is quite sweet, full of residual sugar and molasses and dark caramel. Very decent, but I like them heavier.

Boutip (4654) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 3, 2013
Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with super large dirty brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with light sweet notes and a Belgian yeast finish. Taste is dominated by medium dry roasted malt notes with light sweet notes and with some black chocolate notes with a fruity Belgian yeast finish. Body is bit light for style with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not enough complexity for the style.

Excelent stout. Has a heavy taste of coffee and nice hints of chocolate and spices. Very challenging and fine stout from Belgium.
