Cloudy orange pour, massive head. Sweet aroma, honey and yeast. Taste of tangerine, lemon, wheat, caramel, yeast, biscuit. Fairly bitter. Fuller body. If it were possible, would love to try this fresh.

Bouteille de 750 ml obtenue via Importations Privées Bièropholie. Arôme: Odeur d’houblons herbacés avec une pointe de citron. Apparence: La couleur est orangée-ambrée avec une moyenne densité de bulle. Présence d’un large col mousseux et d’une large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût d’agrumes avec une pointe d’épices. Moyenne durée de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement onctueuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Légère présence d’épices en arrière goût. (Rating #4776)

My Bottom Line:
This appropriately fluffy Belgian Strong Ale juxtaposes bubblegum, flowers, toasted malts and hop resins in a profile which could be better defined.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A tower of foam sits atop the hazy amber glow.
-High levels of big bubbles wash away every sip effortlessly.
-The aroma is coarse and not engaging at all, especially for what is supposed to be a single-hop showcase.
-The hops aren’t bright enough; is this beer too old already?
-Straight yeast flavors get in the way of hops and malt.
-This is not nearly as good as their Westkust Imperial Black IPA.

Bottle.

Bottle. Orange amber color. Malt, peach and soft grassy hops in the aroma. Medium to full bodied, slightly alcoholic. Clear hop character with grassy hops, peach and pineapple. Sweet, but a nice beer.

John’s bottle. A cute Belgian beer with lots of sweet and citrus finish. More Simcoe than Sorachi observed, so orange but also tangerine flavour. Good drinkability. Cloudy orange body with big bubbly head. Sweetish more than hoppy bitter.

Bottle from Viper666, thanks again mate! Pours a maple syrup brown with a huge white head that leaves some pretty impressive lacing. Aroma is not quite hoppy, with caramel notes dominating. Taste is not too bitter either but not dry either. Flavors are spicy, sweet with some herbal notes. Mouthfeel is good for such an heavy beer. Overall a good belgian ale but not a triple IPA by any mean!

75cl bottle from dranken Geers. Dark orange/amber hazzy body with large off white head. Aroma is fruity with a touch of yeast and alcohol. This was edition 2012. I preferred 2011. ***

750ml bottle, cloudy amber hue, with a thick frothy bubbly white-beige head, nice sweet orange marmalade, orange lollipop, orange jello, candied tangerine peel, peacy fruity nose, with some mild floral orange, tangerine, lemon, pineapple fruity, leafy, grassy, herbal hoppy accents, with a grape bubblegum yeasty, honeyed pale, bready, toasted malt note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a very nice yeasty, doughy, flowery zesty orange, tangerine rind, peach, pineapple, candied grapefruit, lime, lemon fruity, leafy, minty, grassy hoppy character, with some panettone cake dough, orange marmalade, honeyed pale, toasted, pilsener malt, orange lollipop flavours, leading towards warming, yeasty, doughy, candied orange, tangerine, lemon peel fruitiness, faint leafy, grassy, minty hop bitterness finish.

Cloudy amber pour with a white head. Nose is sweet caramel and sugar with some light lemon zest. A bit of spice, apple, pear, and alcohol. Maybe a touch of grass. Very sweet and somewhat boozy. Notes of pepper and other spices. Lemon, pear, and apple. Fair amount of grass, a light bitterness, and lots of sweet caramel and sugar.
