Keg at the Earl of Essex - London. Pours clear gold with a creamy, off-white head. The nose has loads of ripe fruits, tropical stuff, orange, mango, some caramel. Big sweet flavor with gummy fruits, white grape, tangerine, grapefruit, papaya, some piney bitterness. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, gooey and somewhat resinous, with lots more ripe fruit character, citrus, some melon, dried grass and pine. Not bad.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Poured a hazy orangey color ale with a large pure white foamy head with excellent retention and some perfect lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit with some mango notes is quite nice. Taste is a great mix perfect some flora notes of tropical fruit and mango with fruity ester and a solid Belgian malt backbone. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I really enjoyed this beer with great notes of Galaxy hops and a solid malt backbone which mix in very well.

Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is yeasty and light toasted malty, herbal hoppy. Bitter, greasy and pine to herbal. Teaish. Dry and bitter rough finish. I like the normal one better personally.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Another superb example of a Troubadour beer. Gorgeous aroma of fruity hops, pine and Belgian yeast. Pours beautifully with tight head and very small bubbles. Quite lively in the mouth but an explosion of fruity, hoppy flavours. Lovely Galaxy finish. Not too bitter, not too sweet, just well balanced and very drinkable. Amazed to find this is a 9% as this 75cl bottle was gone in no time. Should have a health warning on it as it’s so drinkable...oh hang on, it has.

750ml bottle. Hazy vibrant amber with a nice creamy head. Quite fruity with some peach and orange with a bit of creamsicle note, some caramel and pine. Moderate body and carbonation, slightly sweet but then more bitter, very fruity as it dries out with some apricot and more creamsicle. Tasty.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: hazy amber with a big, thick white head, that’s slowly dropping and leaving nice lacing on the glass
Aroma: huge, intense aroma - there’s caramel, bread, pineapple, resin, flowers, pine... Everything!
Taste: sweet, fruity and citrusy. Also some toasty notes. Alcohol is present, but makes everything taste even better. Medium bitterness, could be higher I guess.
Mouthfeel: full bodied, medium carbonation
Overall: this is a big beer. And not just because it’s in a 750ml bottle (the bottle is superb, beautiful etc., I love it and I’m gonna keep it). I don’t usually drink sweet IIPA’s but this one is great, because there’s so much more to it than just the sweetness. Highly recommended beer!
