3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BBB63 (4935) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - FEB 3, 2012
Bottle and served in my Duvel snifter: Hazy light amber with a LOT OF FLOATIES (It has been awhile since I have had a bottle conditioned beer with this amount of sediment), oh very good lacework on the glassware. The aroma has a ton of tropical fruit esters (behold the power of Simcoe), some catty and piney notes, sweet caramel and biscuit malts, a hint of white pepper and clove.. did I mention tropical fruits? The taste follows suit with a lot of mango, dragon fruit and banana fruit tones over sweet caramel malts with a nice dash of bitterness and alcohol towards the finish. (This so reminds me of a Haymarket DIPA it is not even funny). Aggressive and biting mouth feel with a bit of medicinal finish. Overall it is wonderful take on the Belgian DIPA "style", if the beer fermented out a tad more to reduce the sweetness this would be a keeper.

bottle, beermerchants.com. Pineapple & peach fruity aroma. Has a nice hazy amber appearance, surprisingly light but a huge flavoursome finish. Dry on the roof of the mouth, orange and lemon creeps in late on, a big IIPA without the hop bomb.

Bottle. The aroma is light fruity, also a little bit malty and sour. The normal large white creamy head has a long duration. The body is cloudy and dark orange. The taste is malty, a little bit medical and light bitter. The body is very creamy, medium strong with a normal carbonation. A nice beer!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Frovigalning (1308) - Örebro, SWEDEN - JAN 20, 2012
On tap at Monks Porter House in Stockholm. It poured a hazy golden liquid with a smell of fruits, yeast and hops. Similar taste and easy to drink.

Bonus bottle in a trade from Dak, thanks again.
11.2oz bottle in snifter glass. Cloudy yellow orange. Persistant head around edge of glass.
Strong belgiun sweetness and sourness. Kind of a berry taste to it. Hides the alcohol very well. Does not taste like it is strong at all.
Im now to the beigiums. this does not tast like any imperial IPA i have had before.

Bottle. How in the BLUE SAINTED CHRIST have I only rated ONE MEASLY BEER from De Proef?????? It seems like madness! Alright, so this bad boy pours murky green/gold with a copper flash. Thick, 2-finger+ off-white head that laces very well. If this was a shade less cloudy this would get a 5 for appearance. Sharp-looking brew! Nose is extremely yeasty, yeah this is De Proef alright... hops are very much in the background, some confused background citrus mixed with some caramel, almost totally dominated by the yeast. Some leathery old apples and a bit of earth here too... Flavours are Nicely bitter, with dried apple, leather, cedar, stale tobacco, earth... A fine beer, but far more in the Belgian Strong Ale category than IIPA. No.
