Troubadour Magma is an amber colored beer with the bitterness of an American IPA but balanced with the fruitiness of a Belgian Triple. Enjoy the explosion of fruity aromas from the dry-hopping. -- A Triple IPA wich Czech bittering hops and Simcoe for Dry-hopping. Made by De Proef for Drie Musketeers, Ursel.

Bottled 750ml. -thanks Ludo from Magic Beer Room Zagreb for acquiring this from Belgium. Clear orange coloured, medium sized off-white head, quite hoppy and light spicy nose. Sweet malty, citrusy fruity and pleasant hoppy with notes of caramel and spices in the finish. Expected better, I think it’s a bit too strong on a fruity side.

Poured from imported bottle into a snifter, as befitting the style. Smells appetizing of fruity hoppiness and Belgian yeasty sweetness, moderate aroma intensity. Appearance is distinct and flawless, a hazy amber-tinged orange color, proportionate head and lacing. Taste is what you would expect if you mixed a Belgian ale with an American IPA- citrus hoppiness with the accent on the floral rather than hoppy notes. Takes the edge off the excessive sweetness tendency of Belgian golden ales. Caramel/sweet maltiness contrast, well balanced. Medium-bodied. Maybe a slight boozy finish but mostly clean with mild bitterness. Overall an excellent merging of styles with comfortable high abv, I would definitely try this again.

Bottle @ home. Equilibrata.

Nose: Yeast, orange, sugar, slight cream, toffee. Taste is some herbal hops leading to toffee and malt then a boozy peppery finish. Mouthfeel is slick. It’s surprisingly light on bitterness, and is actually more like a traditional English IPA made Imperial than a new world IPA. Once I grasped this, the beer made more sense and I was able to orientate myself with it.

Bottle 330 ml at Delirium Hoppy Loft, Bruxelles. Pours amber with white head. Malty, spicy and yeasty. Not sure if something was wrong with the bottle but it doesn’t really taste like IPA. Was disappointed.

Pours normal muddy black, but with rather full, fluffy dark beige head. Roast grains and hops vie for the taste buds in a nicely blended beer. Bitter finish.
