Troubadour Magma is an amber colored beer with the bitterness of an American IPA but balanced with the fruitiness of a Belgian Triple. Enjoy the explosion of fruity aromas from the dry-hopping. -- A Triple IPA wich Czech bittering hops and Simcoe for Dry-hopping. Made by De Proef for Drie Musketeers, Ursel.

(Drinking date: 27 April 2014) Slightly hazy orange beer. Lovely hoppy aroma, reminds me of strawberries. Could have been more intense. Bitter and sweet taste. Sweet at the beginning and then a bitter aftertaste. A bit of a thicker mouthfeel with medium carbonation. This beer is OK, but nothing special. There are much better double IPA’s, which a much more intense hoppy aroma and taste. Total score: 3.5

Great beer. Dark amber. Good head. Citrus. Bitter taste. Very IPA. Nice smooth finish. Good bitter, sweet and smooth combo. Would like to drink this one again.

Bottle. Poured a golden colour, small off white head. Aroma is yeasty, hoppy, flavour is pretty much similar. It’s a Belgian ale with a good amount of hops in. Right up my street.

Deep gold with high white head. Surprize - american hops on the nose! First sip - very americanish IPA with a long alco burn after, reminding me we’re in Belgian teritories. Sweet taste, followed by short bitter aftertase, dry finish and long burning (cough syrup kind) finale. Interesting. I have no idea what would the whole bottle do to me. It’s a one glass thing. Name says it all - Magma.

On draft at Yard House. Nose is caramel, malt, and if you looking for it tangerines. Strong malt backbone. Very tasty.

330 ml bottle. Orange copper, slightly hazy color, with an offwhite, somewhat yellow foam. Aromas of tangerine and citrus with some yeast. Taste pretty much the same. Big tangerine and orange notes, like tasting a dish-soap. Some more sweet fruits and bread, probably by the yeast. Dry and slightly sweet aftertaste. Light to medium body with low carbonation.

Solid dark orange yeast haze coloured beer with a large slowly fading dark white pillowy head. Noses of grapefruit, orange and faint caramel aromas. The taste is showing a light livelyness with a thin somewhat light soft slick texture. The beer tastes light sweet which develops further into orange zesty sweetness with a light fruity bitterness. The body is medium and well balanced. The finish is fruity dry and lasting on the back of the palate.

330 ml, flaske, 9,0 % ABV, købt i Den Belgiske Ølbutik i Vanløse, 18. april 2014. Tør afslutning, men god lang eftersmag. Øllet ligger rart i munden med en smule blødhed samtidig med at den føles sprød. Kulsyreindholdet lige under medium. Ønsker man en mere humlet belgier, end de mere almindelige Dark Strong Ales, som af nogle bedømmes for søde, er denne Magma et godt bud på et alternativ. Must have more!
