4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This Belgian is world class IMO. I have not had a bad beer yet from Troubadour.
The aroma is of citrus notes, floral, spicy, clean.
Pours a nice orange hue with a large frothy head that stays in the glass to the end, with nice lacing.
The taste hits with citrus and some malt, biscuit, bready, yeasty notes with the signature Belgian spice bite.
Wonderful taste overall, warming alcohol in the stomach.
Overall a world class Belgian.
Enjoy one today!

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into a snifter.
4.0 A: Opaque orange brown color. Two and a half finges of pillowy white head. Retention is very good and moderate amounts of irregular lacing is left behind.
5.0 S: Smells absolutely wonderful. Very sugary and fruity. Candied pineapple, candied mango, candied orange, candied papaya. Lemongrass, flowers, hay, clove and pepper spice. Even the slightest tinge of grassy funkiness. Easily on par with the best of the US.
4.0 T: Taste is very good as well, but fails to live up to the masterful nose. The taste is Belgian to the core. Peppery yeast spiciness with clove undertones. Hay, peach fruitiness, bready yeastiness. The fruits of the nose are here, but orders of magnitude less potent. Barely any bitterness initially, but some does manifest in the finish. Woody funkiness. Booze is well hidden.
4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good spritzy carbonation. Good creaminess. Nice.
4.0 D: Surprisingly a very good beer. Incredible nose and solid everywhere else.

From notes. First reviewed 6/11/2010. On tap at the Firkin in Libertyville, IL. Had to hound them about when they would have it available. Served in a tulip.
My pour of Magma has an amber color, graduating to Texas orange in the narrow parts of the glass. Magma is presented with a bubbly white head with decent retention. Spider web lacing all over the glass.
Nothing overwhelms the nose, but a rich scent nonetheless. Biscuity malt, Belgian yeast and spice, and some citric hops.
Soft caramel sweetness starts the flavor. Some citrusy hops push through soon after. Cardamon, cloves, and Belgian yeast provide a nice spiciness in the middle. Finishes with some floral a citrus hops, with a sweet flourish.
Creamy, with an appropriate level of carbonation to keep it crisp. Very little hop oil left after each sip, but it is a little sticky. Wrapped up in a medium body.
Alcohol provides a slight warming in the stomach, but the flavor is smooth and this is extremely drinkable.

Nice dark amber to light brown coloured beer with lots of carbonation and a large dence white head. Slight sweet herby malty hinted aroma. Full light creamy palate. Finish is bitter hoppy mlaty with a slight herby yeasty touch and a longer dry alcoholic ending. Not bad.

Pours a cloudy amber with a big offwhite head, and some interesting lacing.
Smells sweet, of mango, other citrus, some caramel, and flowers.
Tastes a heavy sweet, with a mild bitter, but strong hop presence, with some spice.
Medium bodied. Medium, active carbonation. Finishes with a sweet citrus and a hint of lingering spice. Pretty good.
