Half pint, draught at The CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico. Bright amber body with a shinning surface. Inviting aroma of sappy fruits. Citrus fruits, dry apricot and marmalade in flavour with integrated yeasty fruitiness and alcohol. Full bodied. Pleasing, however, a bit heavy to drink (London, 16.07.2010).

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 HonkeyBra (2483) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - JUN 22, 2010
Deep reddish orange pour with thick, big white head. Aroma of caramel, candi sugar, and strong, leafy green hops. Flavor is moderately sweet, some caramel and toffee apparent. Bitterness is there but only moderate, mostly leafy hops. A bit of citrus. Some yeasty esters around too, but minimal. Certainly different than most belgian IPAs I’ve had with the flavor profile more malty that estery. Medium to thick on the palate, finishes bitter. I like it. But it’s different

Bottled @ Cafe De Paas, The Hague. The aroma has a lot of fresh grass, pine and some grapefruit. Clear, copper-golden coloured with a white, lasting head. The taste is moderate bitter, has some caramel and siruppy hop sweetness. Grass & citric flavours dominate. Bit siruppy texture, more dry finish. Quite a nice DIPA.

On tap at CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico. Hazy, glowing orange colour, medium head. Rich grapefruity and more mellow fruit nose. Palm sugar, passion fruit and hints of grapefruit flavours. A bit sweet and alcoholic. Nice attempt, but more bitterness is needed for a true IPA.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 caesar (3943) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 10, 2010
Bottled. Clear orange golden color, short white head. Aroma of piney hop, bit grassy, grapefruit, citrus. Oily hopbitter taste but together with a caramel malty backbone. Hint of candy sugar, bubblegum. Belgian yeast perhaps which gives the candy sweet and slight spicy note besides the hops? Nice to see belgian brewers experiment with american styles.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 planky84 (1631) - , Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 10, 2010
Bottle from Utobeer market stall. Orange pour with an off-white head. Fruity old nose. Plenty of peaches, pears, pineapple and tangerine. The same can be said for the flavour with a full on citrus burst complemented by peaches, baked apple and orange marmalade. Cracking hop action on the palate. Crisp, hoppy bitter finish. Nice.
