Troubadour Magma is an amber colored beer with the bitterness of an American IPA but balanced with the fruitiness of a Belgian Triple. Enjoy the explosion of fruity aromas from the dry-hopping. -- A Triple IPA wich Czech bittering hops and Simcoe for Dry-hopping. Made by De Proef for Drie Musketeers, Ursel.

From notes. First reviewed 6/11/2010. On tap at the Firkin in Libertyville, IL. Had to hound them about when they would have it available. Served in a tulip. My pour of Magma has an amber color, graduating to Texas orange in the narrow parts of the glass. Magma is presented with a bubbly white head with decent retention. Spider web lacing all over the glass. Nothing overwhelms the nose, but a rich scent nonetheless. Biscuity malt, Belgian yeast and spice, and some citric hops. Soft caramel sweetness starts the flavor. Some citrusy hops push through soon after. Cardamon, cloves, and Belgian yeast provide a nice spiciness in the middle. Finishes with some floral a citrus hops, with a sweet flourish. Creamy, with an appropriate level of carbonation to keep it crisp. Very little hop oil left after each sip, but it is a little sticky. Wrapped up in a medium body. Alcohol provides a slight warming in the stomach, but the flavor is smooth and this is extremely drinkable.

Nice dark amber to light brown coloured beer with lots of carbonation and a large dence white head. Slight sweet herby malty hinted aroma. Full light creamy palate. Finish is bitter hoppy mlaty with a slight herby yeasty touch and a longer dry alcoholic ending. Not bad.

Pours a cloudy amber with a big offwhite head, and some interesting lacing. Smells sweet, of mango, other citrus, some caramel, and flowers. Tastes a heavy sweet, with a mild bitter, but strong hop presence, with some spice. Medium bodied. Medium, active carbonation. Finishes with a sweet citrus and a hint of lingering spice. Pretty good.

Bottle and served in my Duvel snifter: Hazy light amber with a LOT OF FLOATIES (It has been awhile since I have had a bottle conditioned beer with this amount of sediment), oh very good lacework on the glassware. The aroma has a ton of tropical fruit esters (behold the power of Simcoe), some catty and piney notes, sweet caramel and biscuit malts, a hint of white pepper and clove.. did I mention tropical fruits? The taste follows suit with a lot of mango, dragon fruit and banana fruit tones over sweet caramel malts with a nice dash of bitterness and alcohol towards the finish. (This so reminds me of a Haymarket DIPA it is not even funny). Aggressive and biting mouth feel with a bit of medicinal finish. Overall it is wonderful take on the Belgian DIPA "style", if the beer fermented out a tad more to reduce the sweetness this would be a keeper.

bottle, beermerchants.com. Pineapple & peach fruity aroma. Has a nice hazy amber appearance, surprisingly light but a huge flavoursome finish. Dry on the roof of the mouth, orange and lemon creeps in late on, a big IIPA without the hop bomb.

Bottle. The aroma is light fruity, also a little bit malty and sour. The normal large white creamy head has a long duration. The body is cloudy and dark orange. The taste is malty, a little bit medical and light bitter. The body is very creamy, medium strong with a normal carbonation. A nice beer!

On tap at Monks Porter House in Stockholm. It poured a hazy golden liquid with a smell of fruits, yeast and hops. Similar taste and easy to drink.
