Poors an opaque black/brown with an ample brown/white head that lingers. Smells of roasted malt with sweet cereal tones, alcohol, chocolate and cinammon. Sweet malt beginning, with a growing sweetness in the middle. Long, bitter finish from the roasted malt. Relatively mild carbonation, and a slick mouthfeel (not a thick stout). Overall, a really decent stout (something I’ve missed while living in the Netherlands). A really nice example of the flavor profile of a stout, although lacking a bit in mouthfeel.

In Leuven, 33 bottle. Pours dark brown, cloudy with a 2 fingers tick brown foamy head. Nose: prunes, figs, coffee and roasted malts. Mild and balanced mouth: sweet notes of coffee, tons of dry fruit and a smooth end. Great beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Drinking date: 11 April 2014) The beer is really dark brown, with a huge frothy head. Nice aroma of wood, smoke, raisins, chocolate and alcohol. Not a really powerfull aroma. But unfortunately also a bit of a metal aroma. The taste is a bit smoky. Not very sweet. A bit bitter. Not really special and not very nice. Little bit sweet. The mouthfeel is good. Soft to medium carbonation and a watery to round mouthfeel. Overall, I would have liked this beer more if it was sweeter. Unfortunately I don’t really like the smoky taste. It is a good beer, but for me: this is not my favourite beer. I still give it the total score of 3.4 though.

Sehr fein und ausbalanciert. Etwas Schokolade, dazu ein paar Kekse, hier und da Hefe und ein wenig Weizen. Das Ganze dann noch schön süffig eingebraut und mit einer leicht süßen Note zum Abschluss. Fein. Echt fein.

Bottle:Deep reddish-amber coloured with a smaller stable off-white creamy head, presumably hazy; solid dryish toasty and chocolatey nose, some sweet dried fruits underneath; pretty solid sweet-bitter flavour, pretty full-bodied as well; drier bitter-chocolatey finish, balanced by sweet dark malt. A heavy pleasure…
