thornecb (1132), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Oct 3, 2008 Pours ebony into a snifter. Mocha head leaves sheet lacing. Pine needles, alcohol and fig aromas. Spritzy with sour cherry pit from front to back. Roasty finish. A nice warmer. TeamTrappist (167), jericho, New York, USA Sep 30, 2008 Tap at the Sunswick. Poured brown with a thin brown head. This had a chocolate and stout nose. Flavor followed along those lines. Kind of a creamy mouthful with a medium body. Finish was slightly bitter. Nice belgian stout. Angeloregon (2000), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle enjoyed at Beveridge Place in West Seattle, WA--Poured a deep orange-brown body with a plush milky thick tan head. Caramel, yeasty, honey, molasses, brown sugar, toffee, nut, copper nose. Distinctly Belgian. Lingering metallic chocolate coat on the tongue. trevor211 (106), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 22, 2008 Pours a deep, dark reddish brown with a thick, light-tan head. Aroma is port wine with a bit of cabernet sauvignon, other sweet fruits and tart cherries, Belgian yeast and a whole heap of sweet malts. Flavor is pleasantly tart, like a good cab with notes of cherries, molasses and a touch of toasty wood to finish. Mouthfeel is perfect - good carbonation, but silky smooth. Wonderfully complex. I’m very impressed.
