Good stout-like dark ale that has a very creamy touch. Nice creamy head and a full body that has a very nice touch of chocolate taste. Great.

Brown colour with a beige head with medium lasting. Aroma has notes of toasted malts, sweet notes, mild dry fruits and spices. Flavor is quite similar as aroma with toffee and toasted malts, some caramel, moderate spiced and nutty. The final is light bittery on palate with medium duration.

Aroma caramel, vanilla, cream, raisins. Taste is toffee, burnt caramel, charred meat, light booze. A little bit similar to the North Coast Brother Thelonius I just had, but a thinner mouthfeel and more pronounced charred meat flavor. Pretty good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light hazy, mahagon brown/red in colour with a large frothy tan head. On the nose aromas of roasted malts, lightly woody, dusty barnyard and roasted coffee beans develop. A brief fizz fading into light oilyness. Full bodied light sweet with burnt toffee malt aromas. Finish is coherent and medium long.

Shared an 11.2 oz brown bottle into a nonic glass. Absolutely beautiful appearance: nearly opaque dark reddish brown colour with dense beige foam, everlasting with nice Belgian lace. Low but pleasant aromas of rising bread dough, husky whole grains, toast, simmering fruit sauce. Brewed in Belgium, but I didn’t pick-up many typical Belgian ale yeast phenols, this seems to be a fairly true-to-style English-style strong stout. Delicious flavours: bready, toasty, roasty, chocolate, coffee, dried cherries, caramelized brown sugar, molasses, cranberries. Tart and creamy, some residual sweetness nicely balanced by charred grain bitterness. Heavy body, strong carbonation. So good.

courtesy of fiulijn - not fully "obscura" but rather dark brown beer under a solid and long lasting beige foam; aroma of vanilla and pear in front of roasted chocolatey malts; full-bodied and pretty thick, sweet and with a late tart sourness; velvety palate yet with a fair and subtle carbonation; some residual sweetness; dominance of vanilla, hints of hazelnuts and chocolate - pretty delicious
